Bernie Sanders Endorses Mayor Rodrigo Duterte

imageMONTPELIER, Vermont (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – With a clenched fist symbolic of the campaign of Philippine presidential candidate Rodrigo Duterte, Democratic presidential aspirant Senator Bernie Sanders today endorsed the controversial mayor of Davao City.

This is the first time in the history of the United States that a Philippine presidential candidate has received the endorsement of both American political parties.  Earlier, Republican Donald Trump gave his thumbs up for Duterte to become the next president of the United States.

In an impassioned speech delivered in his home state, Sanders likened himself to Duterte, saying that both of them have launched a “revolution” against the Establishment and against politics as usual.

In his campaign speeches, Duterte did not hold back in saying that he will establish a revolutionary government if congress gets in the way of his reforms.

The foul-mouthed, tough-talking mayor leads all national polls and is expected to emerge victorious when the Filipino people cast their votes in tomorrow’s presidential elections.

Birds of the same feather stick together, even if one bird has a slightly different feather (Trump).

Philippine Government To Sue Dolce&Gabbana For Copying Filipina Dress

Deutch

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The kilt is Scottish. The kimono is Japanese. The terna is Filipino.

Make no mistake about, the Philippines will go the distance in protecting the unique identify of its national dress, and it is suing the Italian Fashion House Dolce&Gabbana for being a copycat.

It happened at the recent MET Gala, the invitation-only event at New York’s Metropolitan Museaum of Art.  The annual event is the red carpet of all red carpets.

American actress Zoey Deutch wore a Dolce&Gabbana Alta Moda corset inlay gown in illusion tulle with gold embroidery, crystal and cross-stitch floral motifs.  To the discerning fashion and cultural eye, it was unmistakably Filipina – with the butterfly sleeves, embroidery, and even the hair-in-a-bun sported by Deutch.  There was no mention whatsover of its Philippine inspiration.

Upon seeing Instagram photos of Deutch wearing the gown, the Philippines’ Department of Foreign Affairs immediately filed a complaint with the Italian Embassy in Manila, while threatening to sue Dolce&Gabbana for an undisclosed amout and royalty.

What do our readers think? Does the Philippines have the right to sue Dolce&Gabbana?
