Hillary Clinton Has Some Words For Philippine President Duterte

image.jpegNEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Hillary Clinton may have won the debate against Donald Trump, but she also tried to win over President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.  She had some words of advice for the Philippine leader.

Duterte has earned the reputation of being a no-holds-barred kind of mayor and president who is not concerned about mincing words — cuss words included.

The Philippine president has been criticized for uttering cuss words when he talked about foreign ambassadors, the pope and even U.S. President Obama.

During Monday night’s U.S. presidential debate, Clinton said, “Words matter when you run for president – and they really matter when you are president.”

The Adobo Chronicles sent a text message to President Duterte seeking his reaction to Clinton’s comment. His response: ” #imwithher .”

Donald Trump: The Revenge Of Miss Universe 1996

1996 Miss Universe Alicia Machado

NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Venezuelan-born beauty queen Alicia Machado became a U.S. citizen  very recently, and when Miss Universe 1996 casts her first vote in November, it won’t be for the man who once insulted her for her weight and her accent.  Trump had once called her “Miss Piggy” and “Miss Housekeeping.”

Today, during the first U.S. presidential debate, Miss Machado figured prominently when Hillary Clinton mentioned her (after Trump asked) when she talked about how Donald Trump denigrates women.

Tonight, Miss Machado must be reminiscing her coronation night, waving to the crowd while secretly  giving the former owner of the Miss Universe Organization a middle finger.

Donald Trump Appeals To Filipino Americans: Please Come Out!

imageNEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – On the eve of the first presidential debate, Republican candidate Donald Trump is appealing to Filipino Americans to come out in the open and manifest their support for his candidacy.

Trump gathered a few Asian Americans  for a historic group photo yesterday to show that he has the support of the community.  He, however, could not bring on Filipino Americans, except for Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes who has gone public as a Trump supporter.  (Most of those who posed for the photo were Chinese Americans.)

“I know I have a lot of Filipino American supporters who will vote for me,” Trump said, “so I really need you all to come out in the open to show that I am the candidate who will fight for the cause of diversity.”

In one of his campaign speeches, Trump lumped the Philippines with other countries which he identified as harboring terrorists.

That statement didn’t sit well with Filipino American Republicans, but they are still committed to vote for him as the next president of the United Sates.
