November 8 U.S. Presidential Elections Void!

imageWASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – It ain’t over till it’s over. So Clinton supporters, rejoice!

Today, a joint session of Congress voided the results of the November 8 U.S. presidential elections on the grounds that they were held on the wrong date.

Elections were supposed to be held on November 28, not November 8.  Even Donald Trump has conceded.

Only mail-in ballots will be counted.  The final election results will be announced when the polls close on November 28.

Duterte And Trump Tied For TIME’s 2016 Person Of The Year

IMG_6936.PNGNEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – He was called the Donald Trump of the Philippines.  He was called the Rodrigo Duterte of America.  Whichever it is, it doesn’t matter now.  Both are elected presidents of their respective countries.

Both men are considered “foul-mouthed,” have been accused of misogyny, have uttered controversial statements, like to flip-flop, hated or liked depending on who you ask., and are non-traditional politicians.

2016 will go down in history as the year of controversial elections and political personalities that have dominated the news and headlines. That goes for the Philippines and the U.S.

It is a no-brainer that the editors of TIME Magazine would choose one of these men to be their 2016 Person of the Year.  But it wasn’t easy, and they couldn’t pick one, so they decided it was a tie.

Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.  Persons of the Year.

A year that many now think will live in infamy.

Many Filipino Americans Are Now Without A President

IMG_6926.PNGSAN FRANCISCO, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – We’ve heard about citizens without a country, but citizens without a president?  That’s what many Filipino Americans are facing right now after the election of Donald Trump as the 45th U.S. president.

Many Filipino Americans have been vocal about their opposition to duly-elected Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, known for his colorful language, controversial statements and actions in connection with his war on drugs.

Now, the same Filipino Americans are expressing their severe disappointment over Trump’s election, saying that he is not their president.

That leaves them without a president, come January 2017.

Truly unprecedented.
