Philippine Fishing Boat Rammed By Chinese Vessel Was A Submarine

BEIJING, China (The Adobo Chronicles, Hong Kong Bureau) – Contrary to news reports by Rappler and other yellow media, the Philippine fishing boat rammed by a Chinese vessel in the West Philippine Sea didn’t sink.

“How could we sink,” the captain of the fishing boat said, “when my boat was actually a submarine. We’re safe over the waters or under.”

”The news media have sensationlized this whole thing,” the captain said.

In fact, news reports have indicated that the Filipino fishermen involved in the incident have safely returned to shore with their catch fully intact.

Senator Risa Hontiveros Proposes New Star-studded Philippine Flag

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Philippine Senators seem obsessed about  the redesign of the national flag as a way to better reflect the country’s history as well as current developments.

First, Senator Richard Gordon proposed adding another sun ray to recognize the role of Filipino Muslims in the country’s fight for freedom. Then, Senator-elect Francis Tolentino said he wants to add another star to the flag to represent the coral-rich Philippine territory, Benham Rise.

Not to be outdone, Opposition Senator Risa Hontiveros is now proposing to add more stars — a lot of stars. She wants each star to represent one million Filipinos. Based on the latest population estmate of 108 Million, the flag would then have 108 stars, and counting.

Hontiveros additionally proposed to designate  the English version of the Philippine National Anthem as one of the official versions, and she wants it titled “Star-studded Banner.”

So, if Hontiveros had her way, dual citizens of the Philippines and the U.S.A. will be singing two anthems — the Star-spangled Banner, and the Star-studded Banner.

Oh, say can you see the Land of the Morning?

Duterte Dares Senator Hontiveros To Migrate

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – If you have the guts to dare, you must also have the stamina to be dared. This was a hard lesson learned by Senator Risa Hontiveros.

Prior to Rodrigo Duterte’s trip to Beijing a few weeks ago, Hontiveros dared the President to stand up to China and protest the presence of Chinese vessels around Pagasa Island occupied by the Philippines in the West Philippine Sea.

Well, shortly after Duterte arrived from his China trip, the news media have reported that China has started withdrawing its vessels from the disputed territory.

So now, Duterte is returning the favor to Hontiveros by daring the Senator to migrate to any foreign country of her choice that would accept her.

A recent ‘story’ by Rappler says “migrate” was the most searched word on the Internet following the zero win of the Opposition in last month’s Senatorial elections.
