BEIJING, China (The Adobo Chronicles, Hong Kong Bureau) – The pseudo news site Rappler is reporting a spike in the number of Filipinos doing a Google search on the word “migrate” following Monday’s Philippine elections which showed devastating results for the Opposition candidates.

Unofficial tally all but points to a zero win for the Opposition Senatorial candidates (Otso Diretso).

Sensing an urgent desire by those disappointed at the election results to leave the country and migrate somewhere, China announced that it will be issuing permanent work visas to Filipinos to enable them to immigrate to Chinese-claimed territories in the South China Sea.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that the Otso Diretso candidates have expressed keen interest in availing of the Chinese offer.

”We need workers to help build infrastructure in our territories and we welcome hard-working Filipinos to be part of our labor force,” a statement from the Beijing government said.

The only condition set by China is that Filipinos given permanent work visas will no longer be able to return to the Philippines. “That’s why we’re calling it ‘permanent visa,’” a government spokesperson said.

In the meantime, Philippine Foreign Secretary Teddy Boy Locsin promised that the DFA and the Department of Labor and Employment will help facilitate the migration of Filipinos disappointed by the election results:

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Senatorial candidate Gary Alejano is urging the Philippine government to recall all  Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) as a way to stop the employment of Chinese nationals in the country.

In a tweet, Alejano complained that 66 Chinese workers are working on the Chico River Irrigation Project — jobs that should have been for Filipinos.

He told The Adobo Chronicles that the hundreds of thousands of OFWs should be asked to come home so that they can be tapped to fill a few dozen jobs that are needed in connection with ongoing infrastructure and other development projects under President Rodrigo Duterte’s “Build, Build, Build” program.

”Ang trabajo sa Pilipinas ay dapat sa Pilipino,” he said. “Ang trabaho sa U.A.E. ay dapat sa Arabo.“

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Reelectionist Senator Nancy Binay has called for a total ban on the employment of foreign workers in the Philippines. Her proposal has outraged Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who say this will impact their own employment abroad.

But Binay is sticking to her guns.

In an exclusive interview with The Adobo Chronicles, Binay defended her proposal saying that the ban will not affect OFWs since “they’re really considered domestic, not foreign.”

Pressed to elaborate further, the Senator said, “eh di ba mga OFWs natin ay nagtratrabaho abroad bilang domestic help? So hindi sila considered foreign.” (isn’t it a fact that our OFWs work abroad as domestic help? So they’re not considered foreign.)
