Senator Robin Padilla Wants To Scrap EDSA Anniversaries!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Year after year, attendance at the commemoration of the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution has been dwindling, more so this year with another Marcos seated in Malacañang.

Reacting to the dismal show of force at EDSA today, the 37th anniversary of the ousting of President Ferdinand E. Marcos, top-notcher Senator Robin Padilla filed a bill to scrap the EDSA Revolution commemorations altogether.

“It’s a waste of time, resources, of media coverage and social media commentary,” Padilla said.

Well, 37 years is a long time. EDSA 1986 has had its time. Enough!

Book Author Raissa Robles Suffers From Brain Leak!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – She considers herself an “investigative journalist” and has authored one book about the Marcos Martial Law. She has also attempted to be a social media influencer with very little success.

She is Raissa Robles.

The Adobo Chronicles has learned that she is suffering from a rare disorder scientists are calling a “brain leak.”

Proof of the pudding? She recently criticized President Bongbong Marcos for declaring February 24, Friday, a special non-working holiday as part of the annual commemoration of the EDSA People Revolution – a magnanimous act coming from the son of the ousted president in 1986.

In a tweet, Robles LOL’d the presidential proclamation claiming Marcos moved the actual EDSA anniversary from February 25 to February 24, saying further that workers will have to report for duty on the actual anniversary day.

What Robles failed to realize was that February 25 is a Saturday — when most people don’t work in the first place and when government and many private offices and businesses are closed.

In effect, Robles wanted President Marcos to declare a non-working day a non-working day.

A brain leak, indeed!

President Bongbong Marcos Changes Mind On EDCA!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – It is known as the Enhanced Defense Cooperative Agreement, or EDCA. It grants the United States access to military sites in the Philippines and that privilege has recently been increased from five to nine sites.

Many Filipinos have expressed disapproval for this agreement and expanded access because they believe it will put the Philippines in harms way with China amid the territorial dispute in the South China Sea. The U.S. has a vested interest in the region.

But lo and behold, just in time for the commemoration of the 37th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution which ousted his father, President Bongbong Marcos has announced a change of mind with regards to EDCA.

“From now on, EDCA will no longer exist,” Marcos said. “We have decided to rename it EDSA — the Enhanced Defense and Security Agreement.”

Manila Times columnist Rigoberto Tiglao told The Adobo Chronicles that Marcos’ move will make everyone happy: the U.S. will continue to have access to the nine sites; the Philippines will continue to rely on U.S. protection in case of any intrusion into its territory; and the pro-Aquino and activist groups will continue to bask in the memory of the symbol of their opposition to the Marcoses — EDSA!
