WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said today that the U.S. Supreme Court should be abolished because of its dismal record in protecting the rights of American citizens.

Trump issued the statement after SCOTUS refused to take up the challenge to existing laws in New York and Connecticut banning assault weapons similar to those used in mass shootings across the country, including the recent killing of 49 people at an Orlando gay bar.

The GOP candidate has always maintained that law-abiding people should be allowed to own the firearm of their choice including assault weapons, military-style weapons and high-capacity magazines. “The government has no business dictating what types of firearms good, honest people are allowed to own,” he says on his Internet campaign page.

“If I become president, I will make sure that all the members of the Supreme Court be impeached so that I can nominate justices who will help America become great again,” Trump said.

In the entire history of the United States, the only Supreme Court justice  to be impeached was Associate Justice Samuel Chase in 1805. The House of Representatives passed Articles of Impeachment against him; however, he was acquitted by the Senate.

Trump assured the National Rifle Association (NRA) and his supporters that he has the number of votes in Congress to impeach the Supremes.

“The NRA loves me and the conservative members of Congress love me, and I love them,” Trump added. ” We will work together to ensure that we uphold the rights of citizens to bear arms.”

Leni Robredo’s New Office A Former Mistress House

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Leni Robredo has chosen her vice presidential office — the Quezon City Reception House, formerly known as ‘Boracay Mansion,’ and just like her election, it is wrought in controversy.

The 7,145-square-meter Mediterranean-style building is said to be once the residence of former President and now Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada’s mistress, movie actress Laarni Enriquez.

Earlier, it was reported that the house was offered to Robredo by Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte without the knowledge of its current occupant, Mayor Herbert Bautista who must now pack up before June 30 to give way to the new VP office.

The incoming VP had decided against holding office at the ostentatious Coconut Palace which is currently the official residence of Vice President Jejomar Binay.

The original Boracay Mansion which has been foreclosed and demolished by the city government, used to have a white sand wave pool equipped with a machine that produces artificial waves.  That would have been too opulent for Robredo’s simple lifestyle.

The pool has been replaced with a parking area, enough to accommodate the public bus that Robredo takes when commuting back and forth to her hometown in Naga City.

Robredo really liked the house the moment she first stepped inside — controversies notwithstanding. She even brought in a fung shui consultant to make sure that the bad luck previously associated with the building is banished for good.

The widow of former Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo also told The Adobo Chronicles that she will ban the serving of alcohol in her new office.  Instead, she will follow the example of President-elect Rod Duterte to serve only buko (coconut) juice to visitors and guests.

She said she will also provide tsinelas (flipflops) for visitors to wear when entering her office — a tradition among many Filipinos.

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Philippine President-elect Rod Duterte is known for using curse words during his media interviews, earning for him the description of “foul-mouthed” mayor of Davao City.

For a change, Duterte is promising that he will not swear during his swearing-in ceremony on June 30.

To clarify, Duterte’s spokesperson said the mayor will take his oath of office and swear to uphold the constitution of the Philippines, but he will avoid using any cuss words during his brief inaugural speech.

“To avoid any slip of the tongue, Duterte will read his speech from a teleprompter,” the spokesperson said.

All’s well that ends well.
