DAVAO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Davao Bureau) – He is the man that is always seen with President Duterte. Wait, make that former Mayor Duterte.

It was never a surprise that Bong Go has been appointed presidential special assistant with the rank of Secretary.

No one is sure what his voice sounds like because he never speaks — at least not in public.

But today, Duterte received the news he most feared: Go is resigning as his special assistant.

The reason?  Well, Go would go all the way to support Duterte but apparently, he didn’t expect to be in harms way, asked to be garbed in military uniform, carrying a gun and accompanying the president to fight the terrorists in Marawi City.

It was the last straw for Go. Loyalty has its limits.

BREAKING: Philippines President Duterte Stages Coup Against Manila Government

IMG_3982MARAWI CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Davao Bureau) – Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte is fed up with rumors and threats of a coup d’etat against his democratically-elected government.  So he staged his own coup.

Garbed in full military gear, with his personal assistant Bong Go in tow, Duterte descended upon war-torn Marawi City to declare a revolutionary government that will replace his own in Manila’s Malacañang Palace.

Many pro-Duterte folks have long been clamoring to give Duterte revolutionary powers as a way to institute his reforms and campaign against illegal drugs and corruption.

Well,  Duterte supporters got what they wanted, while the sprinkling of opposition politicians got the shock of their lives.

This was truly “shock and awe.”

Duterte’s coup practically abolishes Congress, the Supreme Court, the Commission on Human Rights, the Commission on Elections, the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines,  and puts Malacanang Palace in a total lockdown.

De Lima Wants To Attend Senate Hearing On Kian In Support Of Fiscal Darwin Cañete

IMG_3964MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Detained Senator Leila De Lima is frustrated that the Supreme Court has not acted on her petition to be allowed to attend yesterday’s and future Senate hearings on the police killing of Kian de los Santos.

Sources close to the Supreme Court said that De Lima’s argument of “fulfilling her duties as a Senator” and that she is not a flight risk were not convincing enough for the Supremes.

But a new opportunity has surfaced and this might just be the key for the high court to give the senator permission to personally attend future hearings.

A copy of a Certificate of Commendation for Atty. Darwin Cañete has been making the rounds on social media.  The fiscal was among the witnesses/resource persons invited to yesterday’s hearing.

The commendation was signed by no less than De Lima when she was justice secretary.

The senator says she should be allowed to be physically present at the Senate Hearing to authenticate her signature on the commendation.

Nice try, senator!
