Senator Hontiveros Files Bill To Change EDSA to KIDSA

IMG_4061MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Philippines Senator Risa Hontiveros is on a high roll these days, basking on her three minutes of fame following the killing of Kian Delos Santos in a recent drug operations by the police in Caloocan City.

The Akbayan lady senator was among the first opposition politicians to visit the wake of the slain teenager.  Then, she placed some minor (and not so minor) witnesses under her custody.

Now, Hontiveros has filed a Senate bill that would rename Epiphanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) to KIDSA — KIAN DELOS SANTOS AVENUE.

The senator said this would be the appropriate thing to do to honor the memory of Kian and to remind the Filipino people of the consequences of the Duterte administration’s war on drugs.

In an exclusive interview with The Adobo Chronicles, Hontiveros admitted that the spirit of EDSA which ousted Ferdinand E. Marcos and catapulted the yellow oligarchy to political power is fading away.

“It is therefore necessary to rename the avenue to something more relevant to the times, and something that the yellows can rally behind,” she said.

Philippine Senate Releases Packed Schedule Of Hearings

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – If you think Philippine senators are just focused on investigating the police killing of teen Kian Delos Santos during a recent drug operation in Caloocan City, think again.

In a released calendar, the Senate is clearly headed for a backlog of hearings ‘in aid of legislation.’

But it will be a great opportunity for some senators to experience their three minutes of fame.

Also, think of the revenue that will be earned by ChowKing, Jollibee , McDonald’s or whichever fastfood chain is contracted to prove the free lunches to all attendees to the hearings.

IMG_4002.PNGNAGA CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – As the the electoral protest filed by former Senator Bongbong Marcos slowly inches its way towards a resolution by the Supereme Court, Leni Robredo is now mulling her new career as a private citizen.

Office of the Vice President spokesperson Georgina Hernandez told The Adobo Chronicles that Robredo is leaving no stone unturned as she mulls life after a possible short-lived VP stint.

“It is in her heart to travel to places, especially in the laylayan,” Hernandez said, “so she is seriously considering a new career as a bike rider, joining competitive tours that would wind through the poorest of places throughout the country.”

This explains the VP’s recent participation in a freedom ride, along with bicyclists in her home province.  She is training hard and is well on her way to being an ex-celebrity biker.
