NEVER AGAIN: In Her Speech Commemorating The Marcos Martial Law, Leni Robredo Calls For Abolition Of 13th Month Pay

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Mimicking the phrase, “Never Again,” Vice President Leni Robredo is calling for the abolition of the 13th month pay for Filipino employees.

Robredo made the call during her speech commemorating the anniversary of the imposition of Martial Law by then President Ferdinand E. Marcos.

’We need to erase everything that reminds us of the dictatorial regime of Marcos,” Robredo said, “including the 13th month pay.”

The 13th month pay was the idea of Marcos, when he issued Presidential Decree  No. 851, mandating the additional compensation of Filipino workers.

”I call upon the members of Congress, especially my Yellow colleagues in the Senate, to immediately pass a bill voiding Presidential Decree No. 851 issued by Marcos in 1976,” Robredo said.

Robredo’s proposal drew thunderous applause from members of her yellow audience.

Expect Senator Bam Aquino to file the appropriate Bill in the Senate ASAP.

C68D6923-4E88-4A87-BD15-8EBFD6254E9CMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) –  Raïssa Robles, self-proclaimed investigative journalist and author of a book titled, ‘Marcos Martial Law: Never Again,’ is not a happy camper these days, thanks to President Rodrigo Duterte.

The President has just signed an Executive Order declaring September 21 this year, and every year thereafter as “Martial Law Appreciation Day.”

”We have to give credit where credit is due,” Duterte said. “Many Filipinos have greatly benefited from the Marcos Martial Law years.  There was a massive build-up of infrastructure, Filipinos exhibited discipline, food supply and prices were under control, and the Philippines  had the most beautiful First Lady anywhere in the world.”

Duterte himself has used Martial Law to put things in order in Mindanao, and the Mindanaoans are happy and forever grateful.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque urged all Filipinos to celebrate this new non-working holiday by sending a nice message to their Senators, Representatives and to media outlets like Rappler, ABS-CBN, Inquirer and others, expressing their thanks for the many good things that the Marcos Martial law has brought about in the lives of Filipinos.

The Adobo Chronicles reached out to Raïssa Robles and asked her if she plans to write a sequel to her book.  She replied, “Never again!”

Diliman Dean of Engineering Department Rizalinda L. De Leon has also received flak for her now infamous memo urging students to participate in a September 21 mass action.

Well, the time for apology has come.

But instead of each person issuing a public apology, the trio chose to record a joint apology, titled “I’m sorry.”

Part of the apology states:

I’m sorry, so sorry
That I was such a fool
I didn’t know
