MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – All 17 Metro Manila mayors have preempted President Rodrigo Duterte’s upcoming announcement on the community quarantine status of the NCR+ (National Capital Region and the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal and Laguna) effective May 1. NCR+ has been under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine or MECQ for the period ending April 30.
In a consensus decision, the mayors said they will put their respective jurisdictions under MCEQ Flakes which includes shortening the curfew hours to 10pm to 4am.
Residents of Metro Manila and nearby provinces praised the mayors’ decision, saying it truly reflects their being total flakes.
The Cambridge Dictionary defines “flake” as ‘a person you cannot trust to remember things or to do what they promise, or someone who behaves in a strange way.’
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – President Rodrigo Duterte today issued an Executive Order adding one more non-working national holiday.
Malacañang announced that April 23 each year will be observed to mark Community Pantry Day and National Lugaw Day. The date is the birthday of actress Angel Locsin and Vice President Leni Robredo.
The EO cited Locsin’s heroic (read: Darna) effort to (dis)organize a community pantry to celebrate her natal day, and Robredo’s (and her supporters) to mark the day to pay tribute to Leni’s personal and political trademark, lugaw (rice porridge).
In her weekly radio program, Robredo thanked Duterte and her supporters for this singular honor.
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Following a Rappler fact check on its website belying claims that Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. (Bongbong) has returned to Malacañang, it now appears that Vice President Leni Robredo is the one who has returned to the Palace.
Senator and gentleman-in-waiting extraordinaire Bong Go released a photo showing Robredo walking with the President inside Malacañang. It was Go’s way of proving that Duterte is alive and healthy, contrary to recent speculation.
It wasn’t clear why Robredo paid a visit to Duterte. Sources close to the Palace said the President is considering re-appointing the VP to his Cabinet, possibly as the Overall Czar for the country’s war against Covid-19. This would be Robredo’s third appointment as a Cab member.
