children Under 5 Protest IATF Ruling!

MANIKA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau)- Children took to the streets on Saturday to protest the new IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases) allowing kids 5 years old and above to go out to public places under GCQ and MGCQ areas.

The protesters, accompanied by their parents, were mostly children below 5 years old. One kid held a placard that said, “End Child Discrimination. Let us out!”

But there were also children aged 5 and above who joined the protest. They complained that the new IATF ruling didn’t go far enough. While they are now allowed to visit outdoor public areas, they are still prohibited from entering malls.

When the Philippines started imposing community quarantines more than a year ago, kids and seniors were prohibited from being outside their homes except when buying essentials like lugaw (rice porridge).

No comment yet from IATF.

Duterte All But Assured Of Vice Presidency in 2022!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – In an unprecedented move by the Philippines’ major political parties, President Rodrigo Duterte has been chosen as their common Vice Presidential bet in the 2022 elections!

The move all but assures that Duterte will be the country’s VP for 6 years starting in mid-2022. (In the Philippines, a vote for a Presidential candidate of one party is not necessarily a vote for its VP candidate. While the Constitution limits the President’s term to 6 years with no re-election, nothing prohibits him from running for VP.)

The Administration’s PDP-Laban Party revealed its 2022 line-up with Senator Bong Go for President and Duterte for VP.

The Opposition Liberal Party, acknowledging that it can not field any candidate that would defeat Duterte, chose him to be Leni Robredo’s VP running mate.

Sara Duterte’s Hukbong Ng Pagbabago also decided to launch its Duterte-Duterte line-up despite Sara’s earlier pronouncement that such a tandem would never happen.

So with these announcements, the race is on. For President. The VP race is all but moot.

CONSENSUS: Liberal Party’s Best Presidential Bet In 2022 Is Congressman Edcel Lagman

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – After all, the Liberal Party’s best bet for President in the 2022 elections is not its chairperson Leni Robredo. Rather, it is Congressman Edcel Lagman of the 1st District of Albay, according to a party consensus.

This shocking development within the Opposition party was reported by The Manila Times in a breaking news headline that said:

The Adobo Chronicles tried to reach the Office of the Vice President, but calls have not been returned as of press time.

This is a developing story.
