Red Ribbon, Goldilocks To Start Selling Birthday Rice Cakes!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Having a birthday in your family but don’t have the pesos to buy a birthday cake? No worries, Red Ribbon and Goldilocks just have the right solution for you.

Beginning April 1, 2021, the two popular cake and bakery chains will start selling birthday cup cakes. Not the usual cup cakes, but rice cakes!

The two chains took their cue from no less that President Rodrigo Duterte who celebrated his 76th birthday this week by blowing a candle stuck in a cup of cooked rice.

Red Ribbon and Goldilocks said their birthday rice cup cakes will retail at fifty centavos each. Candle is extra, and buyers will have to bring their own brown bag or container.

Now, every Filipino will be able to afford a birthday cake. That translates into more money towards the purchase of a lechon (whole roasted pig).

DOH ISSUES ADDITIONAL RULE FOR PHYSICAL DISTANCING AMID RISE IN COVID CASES

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Leave it to Health Secretary Francisco Duque to strictly implement the physical distancing rule mandated by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infection Diseases (IATF) as a way to prevent to further spread of Covid-19.

Duque has been making the rounds of public markets, groceries and other venues, complete with his measuring tape, making sure that the one-meter physical distancing rule is followed by all.

Now, with what appears to be a new surge of new Covid-19 cases, especially in Metro Manila and surrounding provinces, the Department of Health has recommended for IATF’s approval a new, additional physical distancing rule.

The new mandate will require all Filipino citizens waiting in line for their takeout orders to keep at least one meter distance between their legs. Fast food restaurants and similar venues are required to set up markers to guide customers so they could properly and accurately spread their legs.

This is a developing story.

The flyer incorrectly stated the sale price for the chips at 4 bags for $10. Walmart said the correct price was 2 bags for $5.

The flyer didn’t state what the cost of just 1 or 3 bags would be.
