P5 Million Spent For Pampanga Teachers To Watch “Bituing Walang Ningning;” Tarlac Teachers Treated To “My Little Bossings”

image.jpegSAN FERNANDO, Philippines – The City of San Fernando in the Philippine province of Pampanga spent P5,528,170 ($117,582) out of its Special Education Fund (SEF) to let 2,479 public school teachers watch the stage version of the film,“Bituing Walang Ningning” at Resorts World Manila in October of 2015. This was according to findings by the Commission on Audit (COA).

The COA report indicated that the trip to Manila was part of the 2015 Teachers’ Day celebration, and was tagged as an out-of-town “Professional Enhancement Training.” Each teacher received an allotment of P2,230 ($47) as part of the activity.

Meanwhile, The Adobo Chronicles learned that during the same Teachers’ Day celebration, public school teachers in the province of Tarlac were treated to  free local screenings of the movie, “My Little Bossings,” starring Senator Tito Sotto’s brother Vic, television host and then presidential sister Kris Aquino, and her son Bimby Aquino-Yap. (Tarlac is the hometown of the Aquinos).

It wasn’t clear if any public funds were used for the Tarlac film screenings or whether they were intended to be part of Sotto’s campaign for his Senate re-election bid. It wasn’t clear either if the screenings were intended by the Aquinos to garner votes for administration presidential candidate Mar Roxas.  Roxas lost to Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

Kris Aquino To Paris Hilton: “You’re A Copycat!”

Aquino, left, and Hilton

QUEZON CITY, Philipines (The Adobp Chronicles,

The Filipino is TV and film actress Kris Aquino — the same Kris Aquino, the ex-presidential sister; the American is Paris Hilton — socialite and former reality TV star.

In April this year, Aquino confirmed the alleged plot by the Philippine bandit group Abu Sayyaf to kidnap her and cited this as the reason for not renewing her contract with broadcast network ABS-CBN.

Now, Hilton told Spain’s Diario de Ibiza that her celebrity status could make her a prime target for a jihadist terrorist attack.

“I’m constantly moving around from one country to another, and I’m a famous person who could be a definite target for an attack, and that is something that sometimes terrifies me,” Hilton said.

Upon learning of Hilton’s statement, Aquino immediateley went on her social media account and called the American a copycat.

“Wala siyang originality. Ginaya lang niya ako. (She has no originality. She just copied me). She wants to steal the limelight from me,” Aquino said.

The Adobo Chronicles could not independently confirm whether or not the threats to either celebrity have basis. Abu Sayyaf and ISIS have not returned our calls.

Matt Damon Defends His Role in “The Great Wall” Saying He Indeed Is Quarter Chinese

image.jpeg
Top: Stone in ‘Aloha,’ left and Swinston in ‘Doctor Strange.’ Bottom: Damon in ‘The Great Wall.’

HOLLYWOOD, California (The Adobo Chronicles, Los Angeles Bureau) – You’ve seen it many times before — the whitewashing of Hollywood where Asian roles are played by white actors.  For example: Emma Stone playing a quarter-Hawaiian in the movie ‘Aloha’ or Tilda Swinston playing a Tibetan Monk — The Ancient One — in Marvel’s ‘Doctor Strange.’

Now, a white actor has been cast to play the role of a warrior out to protect China’s Great Wall from attacking dragons.  That actor is none other than Matt Damon.

Naturally, Asian American groups have criticized Damon’s casting in a film, pointing out the ridiculousness of having a white warrior in ancient China.

But today, Damon came to his own defense saying that he, indeed, is a quarter Chinese, something that he has revealed for the very first time since he started his acting career.

Well, in that case, his casting is justified.

The film opens in 2017.
