Will The Real Lucy Please Step Forward?

image.jpegCELORON, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – A statue of Lucille Ball was erected last year in her hometown of Celoron, New York.  Immediately, it was mocked by many, especially the loyal fans because it looked nowhere like the American television’s iconic comedian.

Over the weekend, it was finally replaced with a statue designed by Carolyn Palmer, unveiled before adoring Lucy fans.

But in a surprising turn of events this week, the new statue was again replaced, this time with the image of Melania Trump.

The Adobo Chronicles learned that the Trump Organization purchased the new statue and paid the local government an undisclosed amount as part of Donald Trump’s campaign strategy in his home state of New York.

“We are very confident that New Yorkers love Melania and even more confident that she will become the next First Lady,” a Trump spokesperson said. “So we saw it fit to erect a statue in her honor. Plus, we think it is a prime real estate acquisition.”

Residents of Celoron are planning a massive protest rally at the Lucille Ball Memorial Park on Friday.

Donald Trump Apologizes To Filipinos For ‘Terrorist’ Comment

image.jpegNEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – In a rare public display of vulnerability and fear, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump apologized to the Filipino people for his comment linking their country to terrorism.

In a recent anti-immigration speech in Maine, Trump has lumped the Philippines among “terrorist nations” from where people should be denied entry to the United States.

Trump, in a statement released today, said that his campaign interns fed him the wrong information, leading him to believe that the entire Philippines was a Muslim country and that it was one of the Republics located in the Middle East.

Many believe that the apology was part of the Trump campaign’s damage control efforts to regain the millions of potential Filipino American votes the candidate may have lost as a result of his ‘terrorist’ comment.

Others, however, think that what prompted Trump to finally apologize was Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s challenge to engage the Republican candidate to a fistfight. That may be too much for Trump to handle.

Clint Eastwood Emerges As Top GOP Choice To Replace Donald Trump

WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Amid speculation that Republican nominee Donald Trump will soon quit the presidential race, a clear choice is emerging on who the GOP will name as a replacement:  Clint Eastwood.

The 86-year-old four-time Oscar winner, is a prominent celebrity supporter of the Republican Party who appeared at its 2012 US presidential nominating convention.

During that convention in Tampa, Florida, Eastwood addressed an empty chair used to symbolically represent  Barack Obama on stage in a rambling denunciation of the president.

Republican leaders told The Adobo Chronicles that there could not be any more logical choice for a Trump replacement than Eastwood.

“He’s anti-Obama, a darling of the NRA, a true hero in the movies and has an enormous following across the nation,” the GOP leaders said. The GOP believes that late in this game, only someone with an established name recognition could carry on the torch that Trump has ignited.

They added: “Actors make great politicians and leaders, just like Ronald Reagan, and Eastwood alone can successfully challenge Hillary Clinton this November.”

In addition, an Eastwood victory would be historical because he would be the oldest U.S. president to assume the office.   That record is held by Ronald Reagan, who was 69 years, 349 days old when he assumed office, and was also the oldest in office 77 years, 349 days, when he left office.

Lastly, many Republicans believe that Eastwood is much more good looking than Trump and has larger hands, they think.
