Donald Trump Freaking Out About Possible Michael Bloomberg Presidential Run

imageNEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles) – For the first time since he launched his bid for the Republican presidential nomination, Billionaire Donald Trump is nervous. Very nervous. In fact, he is freaking out!

Trump, who doesn’t have any problem touting his riches,  may not be rich enough compared to former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg who today announced a  possible third-party bid for president, telling allies he could spend at least $1 Billion to mount the uphill climb, according to the New York Times.

Bloomberg’s net worth is estimated at $36.5 Billion, compared to Trump’s $4.5 Billion.

Records from the Federal Elections Commission show that Trump has spent $5.6 Million on his campaign so far.  He has raised $5.8 Million, including a $1.8 Million personal loan. That’s peanuts compared to the $1 Billion that Bloomberg plans to spend on his presidential bid.

Has Trump finally found his match in the 2016 presidential elections?  Or shall we say, mismatch?

Filipinos Flocking To Walmart Stores After Retail Giant Announces Closures

imageSAN JOSE, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – From California to Texas, from Florida to New Jersey — Filipinos are lining up in droves at Walmart stores for the final chance to stock up on discounted bulk items to send back home to their loved ones. This, after the retail giant announced it will soon close hundreds of its stores in the U.S. and elsewhere. The lines were reminiscent of those seen on Black Friday.

Yesterday, The Adobo Chronicles reported that thousands of Filipino Americans were shocked and upset that their go-to source for goods to pack into their balikbayan boxes was closing for good.

Our i-Reporters have confirmed that among the first items to disappear from Walmart store shelves were Nike and Adidas shoes, designer shirts and socks, canned goods like Spam, corned beef and Vienna sausage, bath soap and shampoo,  as well as rolls and rolls of toilet tissue.

Walmart store managers had to employ additional security personnel to help maintain order and prevent chaos or injury to customers and employees.

For McDonald’s And Jollibee, The Fierce Competition Continues

imageBAGUIO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – U.S. fast-food giant McDonald’s claims to be number one in the world, except  in the Philippines where the clown can’t seem to beat the ‘fat, stupid, happy bee,’ Jollibee.

The fierce competition between the two restaurant chains continues as the fast-food industry tries to reinvent itself in order to keep up with the changing health concerns of consumers.

McDonald’s recently opened its very first “Next” restaurant featuring a full salad bar in Hong Kong. The menu also offers options for patrons to customize and decide what goes into their burgers and fries.

Not to be outdone, Jollibee opened its very first ‘fresh vegies-to-go’ station in Baguio City, the summer capital and ‘salad bowl’ of the Philippines. Only fresh produce are sold at this new location, and there is no dine-in option. Customers pick their favorite fresh vegetables to take home and cook for themselves.

“It’s Jollibee’s way of contributing to a more healthy Philippine citizenry,” a company spokesperson told The Adobo Chronicles.
