CBCP, Duterte Sign Historic Memorandum Of Agreement

C28B9B79-EF66-4953-BE78-5AC6E179A30CMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – In what is being billed as the century’s most significant  coming together of Church and State anywhere in the world, the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) and President Rodrigo Duterte today signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that practically ends the enmity between religion and civil government.

Titled “Humanae Vitale Statistics,” the MOA grants Catholic clergy the freedom to use the pulpit to criticize the Duterte government without fear of reprisal from government.  It also grants Malacañang the right to demand that the President deliver the Sunday homily at a Catholic Church of his choosing for the rest of his term.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque told The Adobo Chronicles that Duterte will first be making the rounds of Catholic Churches in Metro Manila, followed by churches in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

For every homily delivered by Duterte, the agreement calls for collections for that Sunday mass to be donated to Duterte’s discretionary fund to be used to help indigent Filipinos.

The MOA is expected to be replicated in other Catholic Churches throughout the world.

Many good things start in the Philippines!
