Philippine VP Leni Robredo’s Speaking Engagement In Washington, D.C. Could Face Cancellation

DF0EF698-F406-49FD-A1BD-4674FF215443WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Everything is set for Leni Robredo’s appearance at a Leadership Forum in Washington D.C., under the auspices of the Center for Strategic and International Studies.  It is scheduled for October 17.

But Robredo’s speaking engagement could face a sudden cancellation, thanks to her recent public statement that ALL Asian countries import oil.

The forum was made possible with the financial support of Pertamina, an Indonesian state-owned oil and natural gas corporation.

Officials of Pertamina are reportedly upset at Robredo’s statement, pointing to the fact that Indonesia, an Asian country, actually EXPORTS oil (or at least used to) as do other countries in the Middle East like Saudi Arabia, which are all part of the Asian continent.

Moral of the story: If you’re the Vice President, be sure to do research before you open your mouth, especially when it comes to oil.

BREAKING: Canada To Import Trash From The Philippines

9617CB6F-3926-4C76-A18B-A43997CF5A05OTTAWA, Canada (The Adodo Chronicles, Toronto Bureau) – The trash from Canada that arrived at the Port of Manila several years ago is still fresh in the minds of Filipinos.  Many will recall that  the importation by a Filipino firm involved recycled plastic, but upon inspection in Manila, the containers revealed toxic and hazardous waste.

Now, the Canadian government has announced that it was its turn to import trash from the Philippines.

The government didn’t provide details of the trash importation, except to confirm that Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo will be arriving in Canada this week.

Nobel Prize Awaiting Philippine Senator Antonio Trillanes?

1ADED901-DF50-4DE1-B6EE-3E2816E51D24MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – This year’s Nobel Peace Prize may already have been announced (two winners: Denis Mukwege of Congo and Nadia Murad of Iraq), but  a second prize is reportedly awaiting Philippine Senator Antonio Trillanes.

Trillanes is a staunch critic of Rodrigo Duterte and has gone as far as the International Criminal Court to call for the investigation of the Phiippine President’s alleged crimes against humanity.

But alas, something was lost in translation.

When Trillanes heard of the impending prize, he apparently didn’t realize it was about a NoBail prize — one that will surely come his way if the Makati Regional Trial Court Branch No. 148 decides to issue a warrant of arrest for his alleged role in the 2003 Oakwood mutiny, which was revived after President Rodrigo Duterte voided his amnesty last month.

Mutiny is a non-bailable offense.
