A Tale Of Two Presidents: Duterte And PNoy

613F01B8-5EF5-4F37-A95F-D79DF6AABD60.jpegDAVAO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Davao Bureau) – President Rodrigo Duterte donated his house in Margarita Village along J.P. Laurel Avenue, Davao City to the House of Hope, a charity group providing temporary shelter to children with cancer.

House of Hope Foundation vice president Fatima-Inderah Disomimba said during Kapihan sa PIA Friday, February 15, that the property was transferred to them last January based on a deed of donation signed by the President.

In the past years, Duterte allowed the use of his three-bedroom house at Margarita Village for the House of Hope but at that time, the title to the property was still under his name.

The Davao Children’s Cancer Fund, Inc. (DCCFI), or the House of Hope (aka Kids of Hope), mainly operates using donations.

Meanwhile, former President NoyNoy Aquino set up a barricade in the perimeter of the Aquino family home on 25 Times Street in Quezon City.

Catriona Gray, Maria Ressa Dolls Selling Like Hotcakes

2CEB2769-E8FA-4B16-9DB7-739E1A510BBC.jpegMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – In anticipation of Miss Universe Catriona Gray’s homecoming, dolls representing the Philippine beauty queen are selling like hotcakes.

That gave Rappler CEO Maria Ressa an idea to help fund her legal fees involving charges filed against her for tax evasion and cyber libel.

Today, Rappler launched a Lazada-type online shopping website which sells special edition Maria Ressa dolls.  Rappler said proceeds from the sale will  hopefully generate money to help with Ressa’s legal bills.

Rappler’s current appeal for Filipinos to  subscribe to and be a member of Rappler Plus at P3,500 apiece, isn’t going very well. It is apparent that many Filipinos are hesistant to cough up hard-earned money just to receive fake and biased news from Rappler.

But dolls always grab the attention of people and it looks like the Ressa dolls are selling quite well, like hotcakes.

DENR Chief Orders Inventory Of Baguio Pine Trees, But There Is Nothing Left To Count

993C905E-6D0A-404F-B4D5-D4A5C223BF4CBAGUIO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Baguio Bureau) – Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Roy Cimatu on Saturday ordered the counting of Pine trees in this city so that the agency could take steps to preserve and protect them.

“I am really worried that Baguio is losing its pine trees. This is the city’s trademark that is why I alerted my staff in the DENR and Watershed and Water Resources Research Center (WWRRC) to conduct an ecosystem research, specifically on pine trees to extend its (Sic) life span,” Cimatu said on the sidelines of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) alumni homecoming.

But Cimatu’s order is now moot and academic.

There are no more Baguio Pine trees to count or preserve.

A little too late.
