Will Amal Clooney Suggest Maria Ressa’s Appointment As White House Press Secretary To Avoid Jail?

LONDON, The United Kingdom (The Adobo Chronicles, Berlin Bureau) – Did you know that Amal Clooney was, at one point, lawyering for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange?  Yes, that same more deserving Julian Assange whom Maria Ressa deprived of the Nobel Peace Prize!

Back in 2013, Amal suggested Assange could be made Ecuador’s technology minister, giving him diplomatic immunity, according to documents seen by the Daily Mail.

Amal reportedly wrote: “It may be legally possible for Assange to be appointed to an Ecuadorian ministerial or diplomatic post.”

This could give him immunity from arrest and right of passage out of the UK.”

At the time, Assange was holed up in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London after claiming political asylum since 2012.

Fast forward to 2022. Will Clooney also suggest that her “client” Ressa be appointed White House Press Secretary to obtain immunity from arrest over her cyber libel conviction and other criminal charges in the Philippines?

Facebook Launches The Maria Ressa Medallion!

MENLO PARK, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Jose Bureau) – Move over smiley face, thumbs up , sad and angry emoticons. Here comes the Maria Ressa Medallion!

Facebook today announced that it has begun to roll out the medallion as a way of honoring one of its fact checkers in the Philippines, and Nobel Prize Laureate to boot.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg told The Adobo Chronicles that netizens who have been or will be blocked by Ressa can now display the specially-designed medallion. He said it will be a fitting testimony for the honor that Ressa bestows on those who disagree with, or criticize her.

So, save this medallion and display it on your Facebook page if Maria Ressa happens to have blocked you. Or when she does in the near future!

Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) To Be Renamed MMTF

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) is introducing a total makeover and a new name beginning in 2022.

MMFF is an annual film festival held in Metro Manila, and runs from December 25 through the first weekend of January in the following year. During the course of the festival, movie theaters show only films that are approved by its jurors and exclude foreign films.

Past festivals have given the rare opportunity to film production companies to feature so-so films and performers while still breaking box office records. Notably absent were quality films moviegoers have come to expect.

It is because of this that thefestival management has decided to rename it MMTF, or Metro Manila Takilya Festival to further capitalize on the film entries’ box office potential.

We especially congratulate perennial MMFF featured actor Vice Ganda.
