QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – It doesn’t matter if you were the former Vice President of the Philippines. When visiting any of the Barangays, you have to follow established ordinances.
Leni Robredo was cited by the Barangay Tanod (village police) in Old Balara in Quezon City for playing lato-lato, that annoying, noisy and dangerous game of clicking balls to make a loud clapping noise.
The barangay has an existing ordinance which bans the sale, possession, or playing lato-lato.
In fairness, Robredo wasn’t aware of the ordinance and simply wanted to show her skill in playing with balls to a group of supporters.
After being questioned by the police, Robredo was issued a citation and ordered to pay a fine of P69.
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chroniclers, Manila Bureau) – The Miss Grand Philippines organization stripped Herlene Budol of her crown as the 2023 “Miss Philippines Tourism” and declared her persona non grata.
This, after Budol said on her Facebook account that her potential was wasted, insinuating that she should have won as “Miss Grand International.”
The comedienne has caused a stir in the pageant world after video clips of the media presentation showed her making fun of a question from a member of the press. She also didn’t really answer the question.
Budol tried some damage control during the pageant finals when she used a translator to answer the final question for the top 5 candidates, apparently to no avail.
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – There have been rumors that President Bongbong Marcos is considering appointing former DILG Secretary and defeated presidential candidate Mar Rox as the new Secretary of Agriculture. But they are just that — rumors.
What’s not a rumor is that Marcos has decided to appoint former President Rodrigo Duterte as the new Secretary of Foreign Affairs. The Adobo Chronicles has learned that Marcos will make Duterte’s appointment formally during his State of the National Address (SONA) next week.
But Duterte is not waiting for his official appointment. We went right to work, visiting Beijing and meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
