Whang-od, Leni Robredo Grace Covers Of Fashion Magazines

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Two of the Philippines’ famous women made it to the covers of top fashion magazines this week: Whang-od and Leni Robredo.

The 109-year-old Whang-od is from the small mountain village of Buscalan in Kalinga, and is considered the country’s oldest mambabatok (traditional tattooist). She is famous for mastering a 1,000-year-old tattooing technique, which uses a traditional tapping method utilizing charcoal soot and a sharp stick.

Robredo is the former Vice President who lost big in the last Presidential elections to now President Bongbong Marcos. She is notorious for her passion for cosplay, portraying both fictional and historical characters to the consternation of Filipino netizens.

Whang-od graced the cover of Vogue Magazine while Robredo is this week’s cover girl of Savogue.

Congratulations to both women!

Extra-Marital Affairs Down Significantly In March — Survey

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – A survey just released by Pubicus, International (P.I.) showed that reports of Filipino extra-marital affairs dropped significantly in March this year.

The survey, conducted during the last week of March coincided with Fire Prevention Month in the Philippines. It showed the numbers reduced to 3 per 100,000 population, compared to the previous month’s 33 per 100,000 population.

Researchers at P.I. attributed the low numbers to the highly effective fire prevention campaign of the current administration.

One particular public service announcement released through news and social media and via giant billboards said “Ngayong Buwan ng Marso — Huwag maglaro ng apoy!”

Maglaro ng apoy” (play with fire ) is part of a Filipino dictum that refers to people engaging in extra-marital affairs.

Raissa Robles Calls Vanessa Hudgens A “Minor Celebrity.”

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – She calls herself an “investigative journalist” and she is supposed to be the author of a failed book, “Never Again: Marcos Martial Law,” but Raissa Robles seems to be clueless about Hollywood.

In a tweet, presumably because she was not allowed to interview Filipino American Vanessa Hudgens, Robles called the Hollywood star a “minor celebrity.”

Never mind that Hudges dated one of the heartthrobs of Hollywood, Zac Efron who is far from being a minor celebrity himself.

Sour grapes would not even be an accurate description of Robles’ rant. How would you describe it, dear AC readers?
