DAVAO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Davao City Bureau) – Nutribun is a baked product developed by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). This soy-fortified bread flour improved the nutritive value of cereal-based food
USAID tapped the government of President Ferdinand E. Marcos to introduce the product in the Philippines in 1970 to help combat child malnutrition and serve as emergency food during disasters.
Now, nutribun is coming back, under the administration of Marcos’ son, President Bongbong Marcos and Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte.
It is being described as Nutribun 2.0, and is an “enhanced” version of the original product, complete with different nutritious flavors.
If history repeats itself, so does nutribun, albeit new and improved!
