MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – We already have the walled Intramuros, but if the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) had its way, it would like to convert the entire Metro Manila into a walled city.
MMDA has already taken steps to make this happen.
Beginning this April, it will conduct a dry run of its new policy banning all provincial buses from plying the entire stretch of EDSA. Passengers traveling from or to the Northern, Central and Southern Luzon provinces will have to take city buses in order to ride provincial buses at terminals in Bocaue, Bulacan and Santa Rosa, Laguna. Provincial bus terminals along EDSA will all be eventually closed.
Phase 2 of the MMDA plan is to build a wall around Metro Manila to prevent provincial buses from entering the Metropolis.
A la Donald Trump’s border wall.
