MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Philippines’ three main islands Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will eventually be all connected, thanks to the government’s plan to build eight new bridges. Finance Secretary Carlos G. Dominguez III said the projects will cost a total of P269.19 billion.
Included in the plan is the building of a 20-kilometer bridge connecting Leyte and Mindanao islands through a long-span overhead or an underwater tunnel.
During a live television interview with Dominguez, veteran TV journalist and anchor Karen Davila asked: “Will the underwater tunnel be above or below ground?”
Before Dominguez could respond, the news program cut into a commercial.
Davila’s question seems to be a reprise of a 2015 question she asked then MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino if the proposed subway along EDSA would be built above ground or underground.
