MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced today that it has approved Facebook Philippines’ application for a change in its corporate logo.
The SEC announcement comes just a day after the social networking giant took down some 95 Facebook pages and 39 accounts that were identified as pro-Duterte, on the grounds that the pages violated its policies on SPAM as well as its authenticity policies..
Among the pages taken down were pages like Duterte Media, Duterte sa Pagbabago BUKAS, DDS, Duterte Phenomenon, and DU30 Trending News.
Earlier, Malacañang, through Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, said that the government had no problems with Facebook pulling the pro-Duterte accounts and respects the independence of companies and their right to formulate their own corporate policies.
The new logo only applies to Facebook Philippines and involves just a change in color to reflect its political leanings and the influence exerted by the Yellows in the country in stifling free speech. The only other addition is an image of the Philippine flat on the logo’s upper left-hand corner.
