QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Vice President Leni Robredo came to the defense of Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, criticizing efforts to oust the latter through the quo warranto case now pending in the Supreme Court.
“Being a lawyer, I know that the Constitution provides for a continuous term for any sitting Chief Justice until he or she reaches the retirement age of 70.”
”She’s only 57 years old, so she is still covered by warranty,” Robredo said.
It takes a brilliant VP to point this out to our Constitutional experts!
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – It was a repeat performance for USEC Mocha Uson. Remember when she mistakenly ‘moved’ Mayon Volcano to Naga City?
Today, on her Twitter Account, Uson sent positive thoughts to those who were affected by the recent eruption and lava flow of Kilauea Volcano.
”My prayers go out to the Negrenses,” she said, mistaking Kilauea for Kanlaon.
Kanlaon is an active stratovolcano on the island of Negros, Philippines. It is the highest point in Negros, as well as the whole Visayas. Its last eruption was in 2006.
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – On the occasion of his birthday, Senator Bam Aquino was hailed as the youngest, most competent , productive and hardworking Senator of the Philippines.
No, this was neither an award given to him by the Senate and some local or international organization, nor the result of any public opinion poll.
Rather, the accolade came in a note from Senator Leila De Lima, written on Senate stationery — from inside her jail cell.
