Rappler, Vera Files Want To Fact-Check The Adobo Chronicles’ Films

602ED8B6-401B-415A-AD51-F94FB22C78BAMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – You give them a finger and they want your entire arm.  Such is the predicament now faced by Rappler and Vera Files, both recently named Facebook partners in fact-checking news and information on social media.

Rappler and Vera Files were quick to fact-check posts by The Adobo Chronicles, tagging them as either false or satire.

But now, the two fact-checkers also want to police films produced by The Adobo Chronicles and have asked Mark Zuckerberg to deputize them to do so.

But alas, Zuckerberg knows his limitations.  He said that films are not within the purview of Facebook and asked Maria Ressa and Ellen Tordesillas to seek approval from the Movie and Television Ratings and Classification Board (MTRCB)

Unfortunately, Rappler’s and Vera Files’ request was outrightly denied by MTRCB.

’Pati ba naman mga pelikula ay gusto pa ninyong pakialaman,” MTRCB said. (Now you also want to dip your dirty finger into films)

FACT CHECK: Kris Aquino’s ‘Princess’ Role in ‘Crazy Rich Asians’

HOLLYWOOD, California (The Adobo Chronicles, Los Angeles Bureau) – It’s here! The official trailer of the Hollywood film, ‘Crazy Rich Asians.’

The film, based on a novel by Kevin Kwan, features an all-Asian cast, including — supposedly — Kris Aquino.

Aquino herself had been hinting about a major Hollywood project and when she was photographed at NAIA with huge multiple luggages on a trip to Singapore, many believed  it was because she’d be joining the cast of ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ as a princess.

Because of what she called a ‘non-disclosure’ agreement, Aquino could not confirm or deny her role in ‘Crazy Rich Asians.’  But in a check with imdb, the authoritative database of all film projects, Aquino is not mentioned as a member of the cast.

In the official trailer, there is no sight of Aquino, certainly not the princess that her fans were expecting.

C25624B5-F34E-485F-9F62-E5D8232266D4OUR FACT CHECK VERDICT: Kris Aquino’s ‘role’ in the film is UNVERIFIABLE at this point.

Let’s see if fact-checkers Rappler and Vera Files would have a different take on all this.

Fact Check: The True Meaning Of Yellow

0CDE518D-6D3C-421C-8602-4A287C72F08EMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila bureau) – For the longest time since Cory Aquino became President of the Philippines, the color yellow has been made to represent courage and opposition to the establishment.

In fact, the yellow ribbon has replaced the tri-colors of the Philippine flag among NoyNoy Aquino and members of his Liberal Party.

But a simple Internet search reveals that the true meaning of the yellow color is cowardice and deceit — both of which accurately describe Aquino and his minions.
