Vice President Robredo Wants Facebook To Terminate Fact-Checking Partnership With Vera Files

2D49464D-361F-4851-8C56-8993F3A60608QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – Philippines’ Vice President Leni Robredo has asked Mark Zuckerberg to terminate Facebook’s partnership with Vera Files to fact-check news and information on social media.

Robredo’s demand comes just hours after Vera Files fact-checked Robredo’s claim in a recent speech at the London School of Economics that some provinces have consistently made it to the Top 10 list of the poorest in the country.

Vera Files tagged the VP’s statement as ‘False.’

That angered Robredo who said that Vera Files should lay off its hands from the Office of the Vice President and should just focus on bloggers and  DDS (Duterte Die-hard Supporters) socmed warriors.

’Vera Files has no right to embarrass the Office of the Vice President,’ Robredo spokesperson Georgina Hernandez told The Adobo Chronicles. ‘Besides, it’s very disrespecetful to the VP,’ she added.

Facebook could not be reached for comment.

Vera Files: VP Leni Robredo Is A Purveyor Of False News

0056A970-4B0E-4C04-AFFF-30521D3F8BCBMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – In her speech at the London School of Economics, Philippines’ Vice President Leni Robredo named the poorest Philippine provinces, including Pangasinan and Ilocos Norte.

But Vera Files, one of two Facebook partners in the Philippines deputized to fact-check news and information on social and mainstream media, has challenged Robredo’s claim.

In fact Vera Files tagged Robredo’s statment as ‘False.’

In layman’s terms, Vera Files is saying that Leni Robredo is a purveyor of false (fake) news.

Yellows Extend Olive Branch To Duterte!

2C9A05F5-A735-4EC9-B3E5-12B0F090D364.jpegMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Following in the footsteps of North and South Korea, the Yellows (the diminishing breed of the Opposition in the Philippines) has sent feelers to Malacañang that they want  peace and unity for the sake of the Motherland (No, not Sass Rogando Sasot, but Motherland as in the country).

Just hours after North and South Korea announced that they are ending the Korean war and will get rid of nuclear weapons, the Liberal Party and other members of the Philippine Opposition issued a statement that they are willing to go into hibernation and let the Duterte Administration do its work of rehabilitating the country and continuing its goal of progress.

The intention to work with the Administration was contained in a joint letter to Duterte signed by VP Leni Robredo, Senators Antonio Trillanes, Bam Aquino, Risa Hontiveros, Kiko Pangilinana and private citizens like Maria Ressa, Raissa Robles, Cynthia Patag, Jim Paredes, Vicky Garchitorena, and even the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines.

Minutes after the letter was sent to Malacañang, the song ‘Give Peace A Chance’ climbed to the No 1 spot in the music charts.
