MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – School and office supply stores in the Philippines are reporting a short supply of the old, reliable rubber band.  And it happened in just the last 24 hours.

An investigation conducted by The Adobo Chronicles points to something that happened at the Senate yesterday, when Special Assistant to the President Bong Go testified in the inquiry of the Navy Frigate deal.

Go was accused by the news media of intervening in the purchase of the warships.

But it was not Go’s eloquent testimony that caught the attention of Filipino netizens.  It was his fashion sense.  He wore several rubber bands on his wrist.

Reportedly a millionaire, Go chose the cheap bands over gold bracelets during his Senate appearance.

Since then, fans of Go as well as the fashionistas started flocking to stores to get their supply of rubber bands.

Shall we call this the People’s fashion?
