Imelda Marcos Thanks Miss Philippines Maxine Medina For ‘Inventor’ Honor

IMG_8768.PNGMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – In a video aired on Thursday, Miss Universe Philippines Maxine Medina said that former First Lady Imelda Marcos invented the terno.

The Filipina bet made the assertion in a recorded video, aired during the live preliminary round of the 65th Miss Universe competition held Thursday night. Her short clip was taken during the candidates’ visit to Vigan, where they modeled ternos.

“The terno was actually invented by our former first lady, Imelda Marcos. She invented these butterfly sleeves and they use it to cover their face,” Medina said in the video.

Mrs. Marcos, who was watching the preliminary competition from the family estate in Ilocos Norte, jumped with joy upon hearing her name mentioned.

Nevermind that what Medina said as an “alternative fact.” The former First Lady immediately sent a text message to the Philippines’ bet for this year’s Miss Universe crown to thank her for the great honor.

“Thank you and good luck. You are truly the epitome of Filipina beauty and talent,” Marcos said in her message to Medina.
