Online Poll On Torre De Manila And Rizal Monument

Rizal Monument now, left, and proposed, right

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Philippine Supreme Court has yet to decide on the Torre de Manila developers’ petition asking the high court to allow them to proceed with the condominium’s construction, citing a potential loss of over P250 million.

In 2015, the high court stopped DMCI Project Developer Inc. from proceeding with the construction of the 49-storey condominium following a petition by the Knights of Rizal saying it mars the vista or visual corridors of the Rizal Monument in Luneta. The group said, once completed, the condominium would “stick out like a sore thumb and dwarf” all surroundings within a radius of two kilometers.

There were alternative proposals to resolve the sticky issue, among them, to turn the Rizal Monument 180 degrees sideways , so that instead of the condominium building, its backdrop would be the world-famous Manila Bay.

But the alternative proposal is a myth.

If turned 180 degrees, the monument’s backdrop will not be Manila Bay.  Instead, it will be the Quirino Grandstand at Luneta Park.

With this in mind, the Manila City Government is turning to Filipino netizens, especially Manila residents to help with the final decision.  It has sanctioned The Adobo Chronicles to conduct this poll among its readers and followers.

Donald Trump Cap Christmas Ornament Selling For $10,000 A Piece

img_7222WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington, D.C.) – Imagine decorating your Christmas tree with a $10,000 ornament — not just an ordinary ornament, but a replica of Donald Trump’s campaign cap bearing the phrase, “Make America Great Again.”

It’s a limited-edition item and only 2,500 pieces are available for sale, exclusively on Amazon.

We did the math and 2,500 pieces at $10,000 each makes a total of $25 Million!

Hmmm, isn’t that the amount that Trump agreed to pay to settle a series of lawsuits stemming from his defunct for-profit education venture, Trump University, finally putting to rest fraud allegations by former students, which have dogged him for years and hampered his presidential campaign?

And Trump could end up not paying taxes on the sale of the ornaments while enjoying a tax deduction on his $25 Million settlement.

Once a shrewd businessman, always a shrewd businessman.

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Philippine Daily Inquirer reported that about 15,000 to 20,000 people attended yesterday’s anti-Marcos burial rally at the Luneta Park.  The rally was billed as a day of rage and unity, and also as “Black Friday.”

But reporters for The Adobo Chronicles who were at the scene yesterday belied the reported numbers.

Only 20 people attended the rainy day rally, and we have actual photos to prove it (see photos).

Of the 20 people, ten students from U.P., PUP and Arellano University belonged to the group Duterte Youth who told us that they were there to support President Rodrigo Duterte and the Supreme Court’s decision to allow the Marcos burial at Libingan Ng Mga Bayani.

The rest of the rallyists were part of the “at iba pa” group (etcetera group).  They were there to advocate of love, peace, end to poverty and social justice.
