Donald Trump Apologizes To Filipinos For ‘Terrorist’ Comment

image.jpegNEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – In a rare public display of vulnerability and fear, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump apologized to the Filipino people for his comment linking their country to terrorism.

In a recent anti-immigration speech in Maine, Trump has lumped the Philippines among “terrorist nations” from where people should be denied entry to the United States.

Trump, in a statement released today, said that his campaign interns fed him the wrong information, leading him to believe that the entire Philippines was a Muslim country and that it was one of the Republics located in the Middle East.

Many believe that the apology was part of the Trump campaign’s damage control efforts to regain the millions of potential Filipino American votes the candidate may have lost as a result of his ‘terrorist’ comment.

Others, however, think that what prompted Trump to finally apologize was Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s challenge to engage the Republican candidate to a fistfight. That may be too much for Trump to handle.

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Philippines’ Department of Health (DOH) today urged Filipinos to avoid eating rice or corn if they want to grow taller.

The DOH statement came in the wake of a study published in the journal eLife showing that Filipinos are among the shortest people in the world.

The 100-year-long study, titled “A Century of Trends in Adult Human Height,” was conducted by a team of almost 800 scientists in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO).

The study showed that Filipino women born in 1896 had an average height of 147.9 centimeters (58.2 inches), ranking 164th out of 200 nationalities. In 1996, the ranking of Filipino women dropped to 199th spot despite the slight increase in average height to 149.6 centimeters (58.8 inches).

Filipino men, on the other hand ranked 195th and 192nd in 1896 and 1996, respectively.

Other unrelated studies have shown that the consumption of carbohydrates like rice and corn can impair human growth. Rice is the main staple in the Philippines.  Corn (grits) is the staple of choice in many areas in the central and southern parts of the country.

DOH especially advised Filipino women who dream of someday becoming a beauty queen (where height is of great advantage) to exclude rice or corn in their diet.

The National Food Authority (NFA), the government agency tasked with ensuring ample rice and corn supply in the country, welcomed DOH’s statement. “It will eliminate costly rice and corn importation especially during shortages caused by natural calamities,” an NFA official told The Adobo Chronicles.

Donald Trump Wants To Borrow Mitt Romney’s ‘Binders Full Of Women’

image.jpegWASHINGTON, D.C. (Thy Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – In one of his campaign stops, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was asked what his cabinet would like in as far as women are concerned.

In response, Trump hinted that he would appoint his daughter Ivanka to a key cabinet position, saying she is definitely qualified and would make a stunning member of his administration.

Pressed for another names of women he might appoint to his cabinet, Trump said, “Believe me, I will have an amazing group of women in my cabinet.  I have already sent a message to Mitt Romney so that I could borrow his binders full of women.”

“Binders full of women” was a phrase used by Romney during the second U.S. presidential debate of 2012. Romney used the phrase in response to a question about pay equality, referring to binders with resumes of female job applicants submitted to him as Governor of Massachusetts.

There is one problem though.  During the primary campaign, Trump had hurled insults at his fellow Republican.

At a rally in Anaheim, California in May this year, Trump said: “Not only does Mitt Romney ‘choke like a dog,’ but also ‘walks like a penguin.’ ”

So it is very unlikely that Romney would loan his binders to Trump.
