MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles® ) –  Philippine President NoyNoy Aquino and his anointed successor Mar Roxas will fly to Las Vegas this weekend for an unofficial visit to the United States. While there, the duo will meet with Republican presidential canidate Donald Trump at the latter’s Trump Towers.

The purpose of the meeting: to seek Trump’s advice on how best to deal with the citizenship issue faced by Senator Grace Poe who has just declared her candidacy in the 2016 Philippine presidential elections.

Poe’s political opponents have questioned whether or not she was born in the Philippines, a qualification to become president. She was adopted by Actors Fernando Poe, Jr. and Susan Roces when she was a baby. The senator’s biological parents are unknown.

Aquino and Roxas are running scared because Poe is extremely popular and continues to maintain the lead in national polls among presidential candidates.

Many will recall that Trump is a self-identified birther, having stubbornly pursued the question of whether or not President  Barack Obama was born in the United States. Obama released his long-form Hawaii birth certificate in April 2011 after speculation from Trump and others that he might have been born elsewhere.

“We’d like Trump’s advice on how we can use the citizenship issue against Poe in the presidential campaign. That’s the only way we can defeat the senator,” Roxas told reporters.

Aquino will also extend a formal invitation to Trump to visit the Philippines before his term as president expires in 2016. “I will be very honored to be among the very first world leaders to welcome the future president of the United States,” Aquino said.

FACEBOOK’S “DISLIKE” BUTTON IS JUST THE BEGINNING

imageMENLO PARK, California (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – Today’s big news was about Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s announcement that the social media network is finally bringing in a ‘dislike’ button after resisting the suggestion from users for many years.

The announcement was met with mixed reaction — many approving but an equal number fearing that the new button will trigger unnecessary ‘unfriending.’

Well that, too, has been taken care of by Facebook.

Tonight, Zuckerberg also announced that Facebook will simultaneously release an “unfriend” button along with the “unlike” button.

Facebook figured out that the “unlike” button will cause a lot of ill feelings among Facebook friends who would rather unfriend those that disagree with  or criticize their posts or photos.

To make the process of unfriending easier, Facebook has decided to include an “unfriend” button next to the “like,” “dislike,”  “comment” and “share” buttons.

FINALLY, A ‘DISLIKE’ BUTTON IS COMING TO FACEBOOK!

MENLO PARK, California (The Adobo Chronicles®) – During a Q&A session at Facebook headquarters Tuesday, Mark Zuckerberg announced that a “dislike” button is finally coming to the social-media network.

“I think people have asked about the dislike button for many years.  Today is a special day because today is the day I can say we’re working on it and shipping it,” he said.

Zuckerberg said they were hesitant to design it right away because he didn’t want Facebook to turn into Reddit.maxresdefault

The Adobo Chronicles® , however, learned that there is a certain limitation on the use of the “dislike” button.

Knowledgeable sources at Facebook said that users can only use one “dislike” for every ten “likes.”  In other words, a user is prevented from using the “dislike” button as a “weapon” for a personal grudge or to silence political or ideological opponents.

So, go ahead and “dislike” this news story.  But that would mean your next “dislike” button won’t be available to you until you have “liked” ten succeeding posts.

Zuckerberg has indeed made sure that Facebook does not turn into Reddit.

Social media analysts are predicting that when the new “dislike” button rolls out, more people could be using the “unfriend” button.
