Uptown Place: new mega mall opening in Manila later this year

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – The Philippines has added a new feather to its cap by claiming yet another world record: its capital, Manila (and surrounding areas), has just been declared the city with the most number of shopping malls per capita.

Metro Manila (which is about the size of Arizona) is home to about 12 Million people.  With its 153 existing shopping malls, there’s one mall per 78,000 people.

And there’s no stopping Metro Manila from building more and bigger shopping malls.

Property leasing giant Megaworld Corporation is opening 21 more malls and commercial spaces in the next five years to more than triple its gross floor area from the current 304,000 square meters to 1.4 Million square meters by 2020.

Two of these malls will open in the last quarter of 2015.  They have a combined value of 4 Billion pesos.

So when in Manila, shop till you drop!

PFIZER ANNOUNCES PHASE THREE CLINICAL TRIALS FOR INVESTIGATIVE NEW DRUG TO CURE HOMOSEXUALITY

_71186900_c0030729-x_and_y_chromosomes-splNEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – Pfizer, the same drug manufacturing company that distributes viagra, the erectile dysfunction pill for men, has announced that it is now recruiting participants for Phase 3 clinical trials on a new investigative drug that could reverse homosexuality.

The New York-based company told reporters that it has successfully completed Phase 1 and Phase 2 of its clinical trials of a yet unnamed biochemical that would alter the Y chromosome in homosexual men.

In humans, a single gene (SRY) present on the Y chromosome acts as a signal to set the developmental pathway towards maleness. Presence of this gene starts off the process of virilization.

In earlier clinical trials, the biochemical has shown to activate the SRY gene that would restore the balance in the Y chromosome of gay men.

Phase 2 clinical trials results showed that 99.9% of the gay men in the study who were given the biochemical developed the SRY gene, compared to 0% of those who were given the placebo.

Pfizer is confident of continued success in its Phase 3 clinical trials and hopes to begin the process of applying for FDA marketing approval shortly after the conclusion of the trials.

Enrollment in the Phase 3 trials is ongoing. Gay men interested in participating in the trials are encouraged to call Pfizer or visit their website for more details.

Upon hearing of the Pfizer announcement, all of the Republican presidential candidates except for  Ohio Governor John Kasich, congratulated the drug company for its overwhelming success in its Phase 2 and Phase 3 clinical trials for this anti-gay drug.

So if viagra is the purple pill, will the new anti-gay drug be the rainbow pill?

CONTROVERSIAL TORRE DE MANILA’S FACADE NOW A GIANT CAMPAIGN BILLBOARD FOR MAR ROXAS

imageMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – While Filipinos await a decision from the Philippine Supreme Court on Torre de Manila, a new, giant billboard has been put up on the facade of the controversial condominium project.

The court case stems from a petition filed by the Knights of Rizal seeking to stop the construction of the high-rise building because it mars the sightline of the monument of the country’s national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal. Among the respondents named in the petition were the National Historical Commision of the Philippines (NHCP), National Commission for Culture and the Arts and the National Museum.

Just yesterday, the  Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) said it will no longer represent NHCP in the case filed before the Supreme Court. (It wasn’t clear whether or not the OSG decision had something to do with the new billboard.)

The billboard was put up by Liberal Party presidential candidate Mar Roxas, President Aquino’s Interior and Local Government Secretary.

As expected , Roxas’s rival candidate, Vice President Jejomar Binay, has protested the campaign billboard and says he will file an electioneering complaint against Roxas before the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Binay asserts that the official campaign period has not yet begun and that the vice president is put at a great disadvantage by the billboard because of its prime location. Binay also claims that the Roxas campaign billboard exceeds the maximum size allowed under Comelec rules.
