IN THE PHILIPPINES, A ROYAL BABY WATCH BEGINS

Princess KLONDON, England (The Adobo Chronicles) – The pregnant Duchess of Cambridge is now four days past her due date.

Kate Middleton, 33, and husband Prince William were scheduled to welcome the second royal baby on Thursday, April 23, but the day came and went with no sign of another little one. This would be their second child.  Prince George was born on July 22, 2013.

In the Philippines, another royal baby watch has begun.

Actors Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera have both confirmed that they are expecting a child.  Although not exactly royalty, the couple are looked upon as Prince and Princess after their wedding last December was billed as a “Royal Wedding.”

The wedding was the most talked about, expensive and paparazzi-filled event, rivaling that of the British royalty in terms of the wedding gown, bridal car, church ceremony (officiated by eight bishops and seven priests), and life-sized wedding cake, among others.  The Best Man was none other than the president of the Philippines.

Filipino netizens have started to get involved in the baby naming process, suggesting names for the royal child.  An overzealous fan of the couple even created a website that has ‘pictures’ of what the baby boy or baby girl will look like.

Fairy tales do come true in the Philippines.

LANGKAWI ISLAND, Malaysia (The Adobo Chronicles) – From one Filipino to another: “It’s time to quit!”

Speaking to reporters in Malaysia where he is attending a summit meeting of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN), Philippine President NoyNoy Aquino gave Filipino champion boxer Manny Pacquiao his unsolicited advice.

“You have earned and saved money. You should be able to enjoy it. Enjoy your family. Enjoy each other,” Aquino said.

He added: “(Pacquiao) is entitled, after all his sacrifices and the example that he’s made, to enjoy the fruits of all his hard work and labor.”

Pacquiao will face Floyd Mayweather at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on May 2 for the welterweight boxing title. The Filipino is considered by many  — including top Las Vegas bettors — as the underdog.

From his Penthouse suite at the MGM Grand Hotel, Pacquiao was informed and asked about the advice from the president of his country that it’s time for the boxer to quit.  Pacquiao replied:  “Salamat, Ginoong Pangulo. Sana ikaw rin!” (Thank you Mr. President. I hope you do too!)

MARYLAND GOVERNOR DISMISSES NATIONAL GUARD, CALLS IN BALTIMORE MOMS TO RESTORE ORDER

BALTIMORE, Maryland (The Adobo Chronicles ) – Maryland Governor Larry Hogan has dismissed the 5,000 members of the National Guard and has called on all Baltimore moms to register for a spcecial task force aimed at restoring peace and order in the city.

Hogan earlier declared a state of emergency and called in the National Guard to deal with violent and destructive protests following the funeral of Freddie Gray, a black man, who died in police custody.

Acknowledging that using guns, tear gas and other amunition is not going to solve the problem, Hogan appealed to able-bodied Baltimore moms to step in.

The idea came from an unnamed Baltimore mother who was shown on television smacking her son — who was dressed all in black — for taking part in the riots against police and businesses Monday afternoon and dragging him away.

Baltimore Police Commissioner Anthony Batts even acknowledged the mother’s actions during a press conference early Tuesday morning. “And if you saw in one scene, you had one a mother who grabbed their child who had a hood on his head and she started smacking him on the head because she was so embarrassed. I wish I had more parents who took charge of their kids tonight,” Batts said.

As of press time, hundreds of Baltimore moms have signed up for the special task force.
