BLACK FRIDAY REPEATS ON DECEMBER 5

imageSan Francisco, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – If your favorite retail store ran out of the $119 60-inch screen TV you wanted to buy at today’s Black Friday sale, don’t despair. You can get them next Friday, December 5!

The National Association of Big Box Retailers (NABBR), in an emergency meeting in San Francisco this evening, decided to hold another Black Friday sale next weekend. Retail chains like Wal-Mart, Target, K-Mart, Best Buy and Toys R Us were so overwhelmed by the success of today’s Black Friday sale that they could not pass up the opportunity to rake in more profits before the end of this fiscal year.

The NABBR attributed this year’s success to media coverage of shoppers creating a mayhem as retail stores opened their doors last night and today to thousands of discount-hungry customers.

This comes as an especially great news for East Bay residents who could not travel to San Francisco to do their shopping today because of a major disruption of BART train service from Oakland. BART trains were unable to cross the transbay tube because protesters practically shut down the West Oakland station. They were protesting the Ferguson Grand Jury’s decision not to indict the white police officer who shot and killed an unarmed black kid.

Also, Missouri protesters Friday turned their anger over the police shooting death of unarmed teen Michael Brown on the St. Louis Galleria Mall, forcing the mall to shut down temporarily on the busiest shopping day of the year. There was also a protest march outside Macy’s Herald Square store in New York.

The Adobo Chronicles also learned that shopping malls will be open for 24 hours starting at midnight on December 4 until 11:59 p.m. December 5.  “We don’t want to be left out in all of this,” said the manager of Macy’s San Francisco on Union Square.

FILIPINA WHITE HOUSE EXECUTIVE CHEF CRIS COMERFORD DISAPPOINTS THE OBAMAS

imageWashington, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles) – The First Family was very disappointed with Filipina Executive Chef  Cris Comerford over yesterday’s Thanksgiving dinner at The White House.

Comerford, the first woman and minority to occupy the top culinary position, decided to go traditional for The White House Thanksgiving dinner this year, serving the Obamas with roast turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, mushroom gravy and cranberry sauce. The only non-traditional item she served was Michelle Obama’s favorite, egg custard pie (instead of pumpkin pie).

Shortly after dinner, Comerford was summoned by the President to the Oval Room only to be reprimanded for failing to serve lechona whole roasted pig that’s a signature dish in Filipino gatherings, especially during holidays.

“I only have two more Thanksgiving Days left in this House, and you still haven’t served me lechon,” Obama chided Comerford.

The president is known to love pork dishes, including the famous kalua pork from his native Hawaii.

“I’ve heard so much about this crispy and succulent Filipino roast pork (not necessarily referring to the pork barrel scandal that has recently plagued the Philippine government) and I’ve always wanted to try it,” Obama added.

Maybe, same time next year?

MANNY PACQUIAO TO STAR IN STALLONE FILM ‘THE EXPENDABLES 4’

imageHollywood, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – Now we know why Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenneger were at ringside during the boxing match between Manny Pacquiao and Chris Algieri in Macau, China last week. The Hollywood actors wanted to recruit Pacquiao to star in the 4th installment of the film series, ‘The Expendables.’

The new film, ‘The Expendables 4’ starts production soon and will be filmed in the Philippines. It is a sequel to ‘The Expendables 3.’

‘The Expendables 3’  is a 2014 American ensemble action film directed by Patrick Hughes, and written by Creighton Rothenberger, Katrin Benedikt, and Sylvester Stallone. It is a sequel to the 2012 action film ‘The Expendables 2. ‘ The film features returning cast members Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Antonio Banderas, Jet Li, Wesley Snipes, Dolph Lundgren, Kelsey Grammer, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey, Glen Powell, Victor Ortiz, Robert Davi, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The story follows the mercenary group known as “The Expendables” as they come into conflict with ruthless arms dealer Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), the Expendables’ co-founder, who is determined to destroy the team.

In a report by Morrison Hennigan of The Movie Daily,  Manny Pacquiao will play the role of a “vicious rebel general” in the new film.

Deal Breaker

The entire negotiation between Stallone and Pacquiao happened in the locker room just after the fight. Pacquiao will be paid $40 Million for the film role, twice the amount he earned from his championship fight against Algieri.

But The Adobo Chronicles learned that the real deal breaker was Pacquiao’s demand for him to sing and record the theme song of the new movie. At first Stallone hesitated but then Schwarzenneger convinced him to agree to Pacquiao’s demand  and so the deal was signed.

Pacquiao is known for his passion in karaoke singing.
