FILIPINA WINS INTERNATIONAL BEAUTY PAGEANT, REJECTS PART OF HER PRIZE

imagePATTAYA CITY, Thailand (The Adobo Chronicles) – The Philippines may have failed to bag this year’s title of Miss Intermational, but another Filipina beauty has just been crowned Miss International Queen!

Trixid Maristela from the Philippines was crowned on November 6 at pageant finals held in Pattaya City, Thailand. She received her crown from last year’s winner, Isabella Santiago of Venezuela.

This is the second pageant win for the Philippines. In 2012, Kevin Balot was chosen the winner.

Miss International Queen is the world’s most prestigious and largest beauty pageant for tramsgender women from around the world. It has been held annually since 2004.
The contestants must have been born male, can be pre- or post-operation and between the age of 18 to 36. They can only represent their country of birth or that listed in their passport. Some of the pageant objectives are: creating transgender rights awareness among international communities, to build friendship, sportsmanship and exchange ideas between international LGBT communities.

The prize includes US $12,500 in cash plus the option of plastic surgery.

Asked by The Adobo Chronicles what she plans to do with her prize, Maristela said, “I’d like to spend the prize money helping Manila’s homeless children so that they do not have to go begging in the streets, and perhaps get a school education.”

“As far as the plastic surgery is concerned, why bother? I’m already beautiful. That’s why I won this pageant. I love how I look and I don’t need to change anything,” she added.

Good answer!

SENATOR GRACE POE MULLS RETURN TO BEING A U.S. CITIZEN

CaptureMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) –   Presidential candidate Senator Grace Poe said she was prepared to return to a private life and look after her family if she were to be unseated from the Senate.

Poe is facing a disqualification case before the Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET) because of allegations that she is not a natural-born Filipino citizen by virtue of being a foundling.  A ruling against her could affect not only her Senate seat but her candidacy for president.

In 2001, Poe was naturalized as a citizen of the US after being petitioned by her husband who is a dual citizen.

In 2006, Poe took her Oath of Allegiance to the Republic of the Philippines for her to re-acquire her natural-born status. She also requested the same for her 3 children, which is allowed under the same law.

She told The Adobo Chronicles  that she is prepared to once again become a private citizen if she loses her case. “There’s nothing I can do if they don’t want me to be a public servant,” she said.

Whether by “private citizen” she meant U.S. citizen or Filipino citizen, she did not elaborate.

PHILIPPINE PRESIDENT AQUINO WANTS MANILA’S INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT REINSTATED AMONG WORLD’S WORST

Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal is this year’s “Worst International Airport,” displacing the Philippines.

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles ) – For the last three years, the Philippines’ Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA)  in Manila has been named the worst airport, a distinction that the Aquino administration prides itself about.

“We like being in the world’s top ten lists,” Aquino said previously.

However, in 2015, NAIA has been taken off the bottom of the list, and furthermore, from the top ten list of the world’ worst international airports.

But amid the embarrassing  scheme at NAIA — where bullets are planted into bags of unsuspecting airline passengers allegedly for extortion purposes  — Aquino called for the Philippines to be put back as the world’ worst airport.

Aquino ordered his Transportation and Tourism secretaries to work with the international body responsible in putting out the annual list to make this happen.

“I want this to be my biggest legacy as I prepare to step down from the presidency in 2016,” he said.
