IN LIEU OF NATIONAL ANTHEM, LORDE TO SING ‘ROYALS’ AT FINAL WORLD SERIES GAME

imageKansas City, Kansas (The Adobo Chronicles) – It all comes down to this. Game 7, the final match between the San Francisco Giants and the Kansas City Royals, happens tonight. Who will win this year’s World Series?

But first, who will sing the national anthem? Aaron Lewis’ botched rendition of the Star-spangled banner in Game 5 didn’t bode well for the Giants.  It just added insult to injury when considering San Francisco radio stations’ decision to ban Lorde’ s Grammy-award winning song ‘Royals’ from the airwaves for the duration of the World Series.

Now, Kasas City has the last word: it has invited Lorde to sing her hit song ‘Royals’ — in lieu of the national anthem.

Perhaps it is not a wise political move, but the Royals think it is a brilliant psychological strategy to damage the morale of the Giants and their fans going into Game 7.

Who are you going to root for? Lorde or the Giants?

And who will win the World Series title?

It all happens tonight at 5:07 pm Pacific Daylight Saving Time.

MICHELE BACHMANN FILES BILL TO SCRAP NATIONAL ANTHEM FROM BALL GAMES

San Francisco, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – It happened yet again, before tens of thousands of spectators and millions of television viewers.

Grammy Award-nominated recording artist Aaron Lewis came out to sing the Star-spangled banner at AT&T Park before Game 5 of the World Series between the San Francisco Giants and Kansas City Royals. He botched the lyrics and had one “gallantly streaming” too many.

The U.S. National Anthem is now officially the “most murdered song lyrics” of all time.  Thanks to Lewis and the likes of Roseanne Barr, Christina Aguilera, Carl Lewis, Michael Bolton and many other celebrities. A quick Google search will show you all the embarrassing moments of our flag.

Republican Senator Michele Bachmann of Minessota wants to put a stop to this madness. Today, she filed a bill in Congress seeking  to scrap the singing of the national anthem at baseball, football and other ball games, especially during the World Series or the Super Bowl.

“We need to respect the one song that binds us all together — Republicans, Democrats and Independents. If we can’t sing it right, let’s not sing it at all, ” Bachmann said.

In her bill , Bachmann proposed that the singing of the national anthem during ball games be replaced instead with a recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. But to make sure that no one messes up the pledge, she also proposed that cheat sheets bearing the correct verses of the pledge be distributed to all those in attendance at the ball games.

“We can still make a spectacle out of it, ” she said, suggesting, for example, that the pledge be followed by the firing of handguns and AK-47s into the air. The National Rifle Association (NRA) said it would support Bachmann’s bill, promising to be a major sponsor of ball games nationwide.

Bachmann hopes to gather bi-partisan support for her bill. “This will be my legacy in Congress,” she said.

Washington, D.C. – Nothing can be more controversial and embarrassing than a public  performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” that has gone awry –from  Roseanne Barr’s disrespectful rendition to Christina Aguilera’s mixed-up lyrics to Hillary Clinton’s open mike fiasco.

Experts agree that the U.S. National Anthem is one of the most difficult to sing not only because its lyrics make no utter sense to 9 in 10 Americans, but also because the melody  requires someone with a super-stretched vocal range.

A group of citizens has had enough of these embarrassing moments.  It has sent a petition to The White House to replace  “The Star-Spangled Banner” with Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the USA”  The petition, posted in The White House web site, contends that the Cyrus song is much more easy to remember and has a more upbeat melody.image

Re-live the embarrassing moments.

During a surprise visit to The White House press room, President Barack Obama indicated that he is leaning towards making the national anthem change through an Executive Order. Pressed by reporters  on why he favors “Party in the USA,” Obama said: “Our national anthem should represent a celebration of our greatness as a nation, our resiliency as a people, and our party attitude which is the hallmark of our social fabric.”

Obama added:  “Imagine an American standing atop the Olympic medal stand while our national anthem is played, or being in the bleachers of a packed baseball arena with thousands and thousands of partying fans.  It will be quite a riot!  That’s what America is all about.”

As of press time, the petition has gained a whopping 1,197 signatures. People can still sign on to the petition through the White House Petitions Web Page.
