CEBU CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya on Thursday, March 31, took advantage of his exemption from the campaign ban and urged agency employees in Central Visayas to spread the word about the administration candidates.

In a meeting with regional officials of DOTC agencies, Abaya wrapped up his presentation of the department’s accomplishments by encouraging employees to tell their families and friends to vote for Liberal Party (LP) presidential canddiate Manuel Roxas II and running mate Leni Robredo.

“Nagmamakaawa po ako sa inyo upang hindi ako mawalan ng trabaho.  Please lang, iboto ninyo si Roxas at Robredo.” (I am appealing to your sense of pity so that I won’t lose my job. Please vote for Roxas and Robredo.)

The desperate Abaya knows that the only way he can keep his job beyond June this year is for Roxas to be elected president.

Bongbong Marcos, Mar Roxas Comics Tied For First Place In National Book Store’s Best Selling Fiction

imageMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – It’s history in the making.  For the first time ever, two comic books made it to the top of National Book Store’s Bestselling fiction list, and it’s a tie.

Tied for first place is Mar Roxas’ “Sa Gitna Ng Unos,” and Bongbong Marcos’ “Asikasong Bongbong: Tuloy-tuloy.” Both are political campaign materials released in the last six months.  Roxas is running for president while Marcos is seeking the vice presidential post.

Roxas’ book depicts the former Interior Secretary as a hero during the height of typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) while Marcos’ piece illustrates his life, career, and passion for public service.

Now, another presidential candidate, Vice President Jejomar Binay is very jealous and wants to come out with his own comic book.  Binay has put out a call to hire a writer and illustrator to work on his book.  So far, no one has come forward or responded to his call.

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Korina Sanchez, broadcast journalist and wife of presidential candidate Mar Roxas was criticized for distrubuting some P611 Million in checks and farm equipment during an official event of the Department of Agriculture (DA) in Tagum City last month. Peter Laviña, spokesperson of presidential candidate and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, considered it a conflict of interest for Sanchez to do so because she was not an employee of the DA. Others saw it as a campaign gimmick for Roxas and the administration’s Liberal Party.

Well, Sanchez took the criticism to heart.

She has gone from distributing checks to distributing comic books featuring her hero husband.

“Komiks, komiks kayo diyan!”(Comics, comics, come and get it).
