DAVAO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Davao Bureau) – Today’s biggest news has been the International Criminal Court’s issuance of a warrant of arrest for Russian President Vladimir Putin for alleged war crimes in connection with the Ukraine conflict.
Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, who himself is facing ICC investigation for alleged crimes against humanity for his war on drugs, reacted to the news:
“ I would be honored to be in the same jail cell as Putin,” Duterte said, adding, “togethert, we can change the world with our brilliant ideas, albeit from our captivity.”
No comment yet from Putin or ICC as of press time.
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Philippines’ Department of Justice (DOJ) has issued a warrant of arrest for prosecutors of the International Criminal Court (ICC) for illegal investigation of former President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs. ICC is investigating Duterte for alleged crimes against humanity.
In issuing the arrest warrant, DOJ Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla told The Adobo Chronicles that the ICC has no jurisdiction over the Philippines because the country has withdrawn from the Rome Statute way back in 2019. “For ICC to continue its illegal investigation is a violation of the Philippines’ sovereign status.” Remulla said.
DOJ’s action comes just hours after the ICC issued a warrant of arrest for Russian President Vladimi Putin for alleged war crimes in connection with the Ukraine conflict.
SAN FRANCISCO, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – The Philippines’ National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has sought the help of Twitter CEO Elon Musk for the immediate arrest of ex-Comelec Chair Andy Bautista. The request was coursed through the Philippine Consulate in San Francisco.
Bautista has a pending Senate arrest warrant issued in 2019. He is accused of unexplained wealth and abuse of authority. He has escaped to the United States and was last reported seen in Folsom Street, seat of San Francisco’s BDSM/Leather community.
Bautista may be in hiding but he is very public with his Twitter account.
