MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Kudos to government agencies that easily give in to demands by interest groups by bending their own rules and policies.
Case in point: The Department of Transportation has announced that traditional jeepneys may continue plying their routes until 2028 “as long as they are road-worthy.”
Traditional, dilapidated jeepneys were supposed to be phased out this year to give way for more modern and efficient public transport units. Some operators and jeepney drivers oppose the program.
Many however are questioning the announcement by Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista by asking “road-worthy is worth how much?”
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The nightmarish traffic on EDSA, Metro Manila’s main thoroughfare, poses big problems for those who have bladder issues. Imagine being stuck in traffic for up to 3 to 5 hours!
Today, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) issued Circular No. 0413 requiring all motorists plying the EDSA route to have disposal pee bags in their vehicles. This applies to private cars, buses and jeepneys. LRT and MRT are exempted from the order.
Disposable mini-toilets are available for purchase on Lazada or Shopee, and it won’t be long until road vendors will be selling the emergency kits along the stretch of EDSA.
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Rumor-mongering and spreading fake news are not part of Kabataan Party-list’s advocacies, so it has announced it has disowned Representative Raoul Manuel.
The disowning follows Manuel’s social media post saying that the military has evacuated residents of several barangays in Rodriguez, Rizal, because of an impending aerial bombardment due to encounters with the New People’s Army.
Manuel’s post has no factual basis.
The party-list has not revealed who will replace Manuel as its representative in the House.
