Pinoy Drag Queen Offered Lead Role In Broadway Remake Of “Jesus Christ Superstar!”

NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Bad publicity is still publicity, and controversy can turn into Broadway stardom!

This seems to be the case with Pinoy drag queen Pura Luka Vega who has become an instant viral video sensation after his performance dressed as Jesus Christ, and singing along to a rock version of “Ama Namin” (The Lord’s Prayer) was uploaded on social media.

Among those who took notice of Vega’s performance and the subsequent outcry from many Filipinos including lawmakers and religious leaders, was FilAm Loida Nicolas who happened to be meeting with top Broadway producers for a remake of the rock musical, “Jesus Christ Superstar.” Nicolas is reportedly investing millions of dollars for this project.

Initially, Nicolas wanted Filipino singer Freddie Aguilar (of “Anak” fame) to play the role of Jesus. But after she saw the Vega video, she told producers that she’d want the drag queen instead. The producers readily agreed.

Congratulations to Vega!

DPWH Official To Drown Himself In Flood Waters If His Promise Is Not Met by 2030!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Remember when former President Noynoy Aquino promised that he was ready to be run over by a train if the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 project from Baclaran to Bacoor will not be completed in two years? The rest is history. The project wasn’t completed on time but PNoy didn’t have himself run over by a train.

Well, history repeats itself.

Engineer Mikunug Macud, Department of Public Works and Highways National Capital Region South Manila district engineer, recently said the target of the DPWH and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is to have zero-flooding in Metro Manila by the year 2030.

The DPWH official said that if his promise is not fulfilled by 2030, he will drown himself in flood waters.

Deal!

Erratum: Senator Risa Hontiveros Apologizes For Misnaming South China Sea!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – It was a well-meaning resolution, but Senator Risa Hontiveros profusely apologized for a grave error she committed in proposing July 12 a “victory day” for the Philippines.

In her resolution, Hontiveros said that the anniversary date of the United Nations arbitral award to the Philippines in connection with the territorial claim in the South China Sea is well worth a national declaration of victory.

Hontiveros apparently mislabeled the South China Sea as West Philippine Sea.

The senator filed an addendum to her resolution correcting her error. If passed, the resolution will now declare July 12 as South China Sea Victory Day.

All’s well that ends well!
