Leni Robredo Endorses Barbie Movie!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Hollywood film, “Barbie” starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, is finally showing in the Philippines after the go-signal from the Movie & Television Ratings and Classification Board (MTRCB).

There were earlier moves to ban the movie for featuring a map showing China’s 9-dash lane which many argued was an intrusion into the Philippines’ territory.

Yesterday, ex-Vice President Leni Robredo formally endorsed the movie, saying it is a tribute to her and her Pinklawan movement. She encouraged all the 15 million who voted for her in the 2022 presidential elections to go see the film, and to wear pink when they do.

Is this a precursor to Robredo’s much-talked about candidacy in the 2025 senatorial elections?

Unprecedented: South Korean House Speaker To Deliver Philippines’ State Of The Nation Address (SONA)

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – The Philippines will make a Guinness World Record on July 24, 2023, as the first and only nation in the world to invite a foreign dignitary to deliver the State of the Nation Address (SONA), usually done by the country’s president.

South Korean National Assembly Speaker Rep. Kim Jin-pyo will do the honors on behalf of President Bongbong Marcos who will be watching the address from Malacañang.

Already, banners welcoming the South Korean dignitary as SONA speaker have been put up in various locations in Metro Manila, including this one at a footbridge near the Batasang Pambansa, venue of the SONA.
