Salt Lake City, Utah – Pope Francis continues to win the hearts of Catholics and non-Catholics alike with his humble, down-to-earth, and open-arms approach to his papacy. Time magazine’s 2013 ‘Person of the Year’ seems to be transcending the realms of organized religion and is slowly but surely gaining the respect and admiration of, even the Mormons.

President Thomas S. Monson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) has sent feelers to The Vatican for a possible summit with Pope Francis to explore a merger between the Mormons and the Roman Catholic Church . “I like everything I’ve seen so far about this new Pope,” Monson said.

Monson was reacting to a story by The Adobo Chronicles regarding women and gay Catholics flocking to  Vatican confessionals following the release of the 2014 Priests Calendar featuring the best-looking Catholic priests.

“We have our fair share of good-looking Mormon missionaries, and they would look hotter if they donned the Catholic priest collar rather than the boring white shirt and tie,” said Monson.

Manila, Philippines – One hundred million Filipinos woke up today to find that their president, Noynoy Aquino has been demoted to police chief of Metro Manila. His Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas was also demoted to deputy police chief.

The good news is, both seem to be fit for, and doing great in their new jobs.

Less than 24 hours after their demotion, both gentlemen were busy at work, responding to a jewelry  robbery at a store inside SM, a popular shopping mall.

Aquino went to the SM North Edsa Mall in Quezon City, more than two hours after members of the notorious Martilyo gang tried to rob a jewelry store. After 15 minutes of conferring with police officials and surveying the crime scene, he left the site just as Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas arrived.

Roxas did not, however, linger long to allow Quezon City police investigators to conduct a probe on the robbery.

Aquino and Roxas received praise for being efficient first responders to the crime.

PHILIPPINES’ BET IN MISS INTERNATIONAL WILL ANSWER FINAL QUESTION IN SPANISH

imageTokyo, Japan – The final question has always been the waterloo for the Philippines’ candidates to international beauty pageants like Miss Universe, Miss World (except Megan Young) and Miss International. In recent years, the Filipina candidates have performed extremely well, making it to the top 5 finalists, only to lose the title in the final question in which  they all have chosen to answer in English, unlike the Latina candidates who have always answered in their native language with assistance from interpreters.
On December 17, the finals for the 2013 Miss International Pageant will be held in Tokyo, Japan. Miss Philippines Bea Rose Santiago revealed that if she is chosen to be among the top 5 finalists, she will answer the final question in Spanish which will put her on equal footing with the Latina candidates who are expected to make it to the finals.

The Philippines was a colony of Spain for more than three  centuries and many Filipinos, including Santiago, speak and understand the Spanish language.

Miss Philippines is among the favorites to win this year’s Miss International title.
