DTI Shuts Down 3 Karinderias For Substandard Adobo!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Philippines’ Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is dead serious about its new initiative to establish national standards for the cooking of adobo.

In just the last 24 hours, DTI has closed three karinderias for violation of yet-to-be-established standards.

”We’re just being proactive,” a DTI official told The Adobo Chronicles.

The establishments were closed for:

  1. Using pineapple in the recipe
  2. Adding sugar to the recipe
  3. Adding CDO liver spread instead of the recommended Reno liver spread.

In addition to being shut down, the kariendera owners could face fine and jail time.

Leni Robredo Responds To Human Waste Dumping In West Philippine Sea

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo is finally breaking her silence on the controversy involving the alleged human waste dumping by Chinese vessels in the West Philippine Sea.

”It takes great leadership to address this stinky issue,” Robredo said.

”I would like to volunteer the Office of the Vice President to handle the issue if the Duterte Administration can’t. My OVP team will work closely with the owners and operators of the Chinese vessels to bring about zero open defecation in WPS.”

It will be recalled that the Vice President’s Office funded a zero open defecation project in San Joaquin, Iloilo back in 2018. A total of 224 sanitary toilets were put up in poor households in 85 barangays.

”If we were able to achieve zero open defecation in Iloilo, there is no reason we can’t do the same in WPS,” the VP told The Adobo Chronicles.

DTI Subpoenas AC Publisher For Posting Recipe For Rabbit Adobo

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is very serious about its initiative to set a national standard for cooking adobo and other Filipino dishes.

Case in point. The Adobo Chronicles publisher was subpoenaed by DTI for posting a photo of his newly-found concoction of adobo. No, not pork, not chicken, not squid, not even vegetable adobo. Rather, rabbit meat adobo.

Our publisher was asked to appear in person at the DTI headquarters to explain why he shouldn’t be penalized for a possible violation of the yet-to-be-set national adobo standard.

This is a developing story.
