MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Philippines’ Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is dead serious about its new initiative to establish national standards for the cooking of adobo.
In just the last 24 hours, DTI has closed three karinderias for violation of yet-to-be-established standards.
”We’re just being proactive,” a DTI official told The Adobo Chronicles.
The establishments were closed for:
- Using pineapple in the recipe
- Adding sugar to the recipe
- Adding CDO liver spread instead of the recommended Reno liver spread.
In addition to being shut down, the kariendera owners could face fine and jail time.
