Senator Hontiveros Proposes Expiry Date On Peso Bills

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Forget about the expiry dates on those face shields!

Senator Risa Hontiveros today proposed that all peso bills, starting with the P1,000, P500, and P100 denominations, be printed with expiry dates.

Hontiveros told The Adobo Chronicles that the rationale for her proposed bill is to prevent hoarding and money laundering. ”By including expiration dates on all peso bills, we will discourage people from keeping their money in their bauls (treasure chests) or in shoe boxes in their closets,” she said.

The Senator also sees her measure as a way to revive the economy which has been devastated by the Covid-19 pandemic. ”People will be forced to spend their money and help businesses recover from huge losses in the last two years or so.”

If Hontiveros’ proposal is approved, all new future bills that will be printed by the Central Bank of the Philippines, will have expiry dates after 10 years from date of printing.

Adobo Chronicles Starts New Series On Historical Revisionism

The Adobo Chronicles is launching a completely new series on historical revisionism. Many are guilty, but few are chosen.

We are often told that history is bound to repeat itself, unless we make an effort to revise it to fit our own avowed narratives. We have seen government opponents, news media and netizens do it. We won’t be left behind.

Ex-Comelec Commissioner Andy Bautista Eludes NBI Agents At San Francisco’s Folsom Street Fair!

SAN FRANCISCO, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – After an involuntary hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, San Francisco’s Folsom Street Fair returned today, Sunday, September 26.

Folsom Street Fair is an annual BDSM and leather subculture street fair, held in September, that caps San Francisco’s “Leather Pride Week”. The Folsom Street Fair, sometimes simply referred to as “Folsom”, takes place on Folsom Street between 8th and 13th Streets, in San Francisco’s South of Market district.

The Philippines’ National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) was hoping to run into, and arrest former Commission on Elections chief Andy Bautista who is believed to have fled to San Francisco to evade arrest after being issued warrants by the Philippine Senate.

Bautista faces a complaint stemming from allegations made by his estranged wife, Patricia, that he accepted commissions on referred cases, had ghost employees, and went on questionable trips. He resigned before impeachment proceedings against him could commence in the Senate.

It was later on discovered that Bautista had flown to the US on November 21, 2017. He refused to return to the Philippines despite a subpoena to attend a Senate probe, citing “medical challenges”, and added that he never received the summons sent by lawmakers.

Bautista is reportedly a leather and BDSM fanatic, and the NBI was hoping to find him in San Francisco, at the Folsom Street Fair.

Alas, NBI didn’t run into Bautista, perhaps because health protocols of the street fair required attendees to wear face masks. It’s difficult to identify people when masked.
