Cancel Culture: Support Angkas Trends

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) –  Newton’s third law states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Following the impressive Quezon City caravan held this week in support of the candidacies of former Senator Bongbong Marcos for President and Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte for Vice President, Pinklawans (those supporting Vice President Leni Robredo) called for a boycott of Angkas, the motorcycle riding service in Metro Manila. The call for boycott came after hundreds of Angkas drivers joined in the unprecedented motorcade.

Almost immediately, netizens supporting the Marcos-Duterte tandem, took to social media to counter the cancel culture.

The hashtag #SupportAngkas has begun to trend on Twitter and other social media platforms.

Judging by the overwhelming support of Marcos and Duterte, it looks like the cancel culture directed at Angkas will soon be, well, cancelled.

Again, for every action, there is an opposite reaction. And in many cases, the opposite reaction triumphs.

Honolulu Makes Philippine VP Aspirant Lito Atienza Honorary Mayor

HONOLULU, Hawaii (The Adobo Chronicles, Honolulu Bureau) – House Deputy Speaker and former Manila Mayor Lito Atienza has been adopted by the City and County of Honolulu as its honorary mayor.

Atienza is vying for the position of Vice President in the May 2022 elections under Senator Manny Pacquiao’s party. Pacquiao is running for President.

The Adobo Chronicles learned that Honolulu is making this move in line with the sister city relationship between the Hawaiian city and Manila.

Honolulu has about 30 sister cities across the globe.

Asked why Honolulu didn’t pick incumbent mayor Isko Moreno as its honorary mayor, a spokesperson said that Atienza was chosen because of being a poster boy for the Aloha shirt. The VP aspirant has made the Hawaiian shirt his signature attire.

”We appreciate his ongoing promotion of Hawaii,” the spokesperson said.
