MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Many Metro Manilans will remember the air-conditioned, blue-painted, heart-decked LOVE BUS that was the idea of former First Lady Imelda Marcos and was operated by what was then the Ministry of Transportation and Communications. The idea was for it to offer a comfortable ride to passengers and save gas by providing a transportation alternative to driving private cars.
Fast forward to 2023. Another Marcos First Lady – Liza Araneta – is bring back a differently-spelled Love Bus to bring health care services, including free consultations, laboratory services, and medicines to the people. She’s calling it LAB BUS.
Proof that there is no enmity between mother and daughter in law and they share the same passion for love.
BERLIN, Germany (The Adobo Chronicles, Berlin Bureau) – BMW AG’s Rolls-Royce has a small number of its exclusive cars aboard the ship that went up in flames off the Dutch coast a week ago.
The maker of the luxury vehicles is informing affected clients personally, a spokesperson said Wednesday in an email.
While the car company has not disclosed the exact number of Rolls-Royces that was burned, or the total cost, we know that EACH of the luxury cars cost €500,000. In Philippine pesos, that’s ₽30 million!
So that’s SEVERAL ₽30 million that went up in flames!
DUBLIN, Ireland (The Adobo Chronicles, Dublin Bureau) – The Philippines’ Department of Tourism has spent the last few weeks defending its P49 million re-branding of the country’s tourism campaign.
The slogan “Love The Philippines” was met with skepticism and criticism because of its unclear message and hard-to-decipher graphics, only to be exacerbated by a promo video that featured tourist destinations other than from the Philippines.
Today, Ireland sent Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco an autographed copy of its latest tourism poster — no logo, just a plain, simple and heartwarming message: “Fill your heart with Ireland.”
